The mystery of the left-handed work gloves

Since I have three teenage sons, I’ve found over the years that we can keep track of work gloves better if they all get thrown into the same drawer in the garage after work projects. But I’ve noticed that left-handed gloves in the drawer have always outnumbered right-handed ones, and I’ve often wondered why.

Today, while tending my first wood stove fire of the season, I burned the tip of the middle finger on my right hand while opening the wood stove door because there was a hole in the glove I used to operate the stove’s door handle. I threw the glove away, went to the garage drawer to get another, and found only six gloves there, all left-handed. It suddenly occurred to me where all the right-handed gloves had gone.

    Dave,
I believe you will find the missing gloves with all the odd socks that are missing…

  2. Matt Says:

I used to keep my leather work gloves handy on a low shelf near the back door. Grab them on the way out. One day the new dog decided they were the perfect chew toy. She’d grab them on the way out of the door, chew them a while then bury them in a shallow hole. I finally gave up, gave her the old pair and keep the new pair in the drawer.

  3. JG Says:

    Dave,
Maybe next time you burn through a finger you could replace it with one of the fingers from a left glove.

  4. Dave Sorensen Says:

Perhaps we can strike a deal.
I have 6 right handed work gloves and no left handed gloves!

    PS
As I think about this, it may just be this….We live in Madison, WI where every left-leaning anything tends to take off and run!

  5. Gary Cox Says:

I’m left handed, so I wear a hole in the left glove, this is a problem, because the right hand will be almost perfect, so I would like to trade, or buy some good left hand leather gloves size XL
