My first radio interview in 10 years

I did my first radio interview in 10 or 12 years — on KSGF Morning Talk Radio in Springfield, Missouri. Mas Ayoob did one on the same station the day before I did.

I have a type of stage fright as many of you may or may not know. It is nearly impossible for me to get up before more than two or three people and talk. I used to do a number of radio interviews in the early years of the magazine because I couldn’t see the audience, but I gave that up because the interviews made me too nervous. Ayoob talked me into doing this one, and I agreed so long as they interviewed John Silveira at the same time — I needed a friend to both put me at ease and answer questions when my stressed-out brain froze.

So here are the links to both the Mas Ayoob interview and theĀ  Dave Duffy interview on the Bruce DeLay show. Mas is obviously the cool, calm pro in this type of setting. But I did the best I could.

This is amazingly cool. I live in Springfield, and as I work evenings, I couldn’t get myself up to listen live, but am listening to the podcast of this show as I type. Oddly, I’d mentioned to Mr. DeLay’s predecessor about a year ago that Anita Evangelista had praised his on-air efforts during an ice storm three years ago, he said he’d like to meet her and thank her, so I emailed her with this message and his email, have no idea what became of that, but I’m glad you and my favorite local radio station know each other now. I’ve read Backwoods Home for years, and tell my friends about the magazine, but I think you probably made some fans and picked up subscribers in Southwest Missouri where your message is pretty popular already.

    Thanks again.

The interview was at 6 am my time, and by the time I got to work the ladies at the office had taken a half dozen new subscriptions. Very cool.

Very interesting interview. I have been getting this magazine for years and value every one of them. I get three homestead magazines, not TMEN, and if our house caught fire, they would be the things I would get out first.
I think the three true conservitive parties, libertarian, Constition and America First and the false conservative party, Repubs should get to gether and the four of them really study and pick the most perfect person possible to run for president. Some one who is truely conservitive and will do the best possible job for AMERICA. Not for themselves or their party. Some one who will remember that we hired them and we can fire them in a heart beat if they disappoint us. And a good conservitive president will take care of the rest. And we need to be the ones to vote for the raises they get, not the people who receive them. And they need to go on SS just like the rest of us. But you know all that with out me telling you. I just wanted to suggest that the four parties get to gether and choose the very best person for the job instead of all the smearing and fighting and digging up dirt. Say what they will do and not what the other person will do. Then do it.
