Camping on the Rogue River

Quosatana Creek Campground 15 miles up the Rogue River is a relaxing and serene place to camp. No internet or cell phone service, which is just fine. For five days, we swam, fished, bicycled, and relaxed by the fire.

The Rogue is a powerful river that empties into the Pacific at Gold Beach.

Our camp consists of our popup trailer and tent. We also bring our bicycles and fishing rods.

All strong swimmers, my three sons walk on the opposite shore after they swam across the river.

I ate a lot of blackberry toastites and relaxed in camp. Wild blackberries are plentiful here. A good blackberry toastite consists of two pieces of whole wheat bread filled with 60% apples and 40% blackberries and some cinnamon, and toasted in the toastiter (sometimes called a hobo iron) right in the fire.

    We love Quosatana Creek Campground…It’s close enough to home (we live up Saunders Creek) to run back and feed the livestock, yet far enough away that we get a chance to relax. Have only gotten to go once this year, but it’s our top pick for camping in the area.
