If you’ve seen the news today, you know New England was hit with a major snow storm that dumped as much as 38 inches of snow in some areas. Our webmaster lives in a Boston suburb and felt lucky to have awoken to a mere 18 official inches, although one drift in his yard topped five feet.

Most folks spent the day running snow blowers and wielding shovels. Below are two of his neighbors, who waited until late afternoon to begin shoveling, trying to figure out where to pile all the snow so it doesn’t collapse back onto their sidewalk or into their driveway.

And some folks, having spent too many hours moving snow, like the owner of the car, below, gave up and left their car buried until tomorrow.

Robby Duffy has been working to get a Google+ page set up for us. It’s online now and he’ll be making regular updates to it.

To accommodate the new link icon, I moved them from the top of the left navigation to under the search box in the middle of the new layout. That will allow us to easily add more in the future as Robby gets us on other social media sites. (The blogs still run on the old layout. Click on Home in the left navigation column to see the new layout.)

I just learned that BHM author, long-time Readers’ Forum moderator, and all-around great guy Pat Barden (bee_pipes) passed away after a long bout with cancer.

The last time I heard from him, some months ago, he’d resigned himself to the inevitable and vowed to complete his personal “bucket list” before the end.

I hope he made it and that his passing was peaceful.

Those of you so inclined, please remember Pat in your prayers.
