The golf bug — it’s hard to shake
I almost gave up golf. Injuries and not enough time were the major reasons. I haven’t played for months. But my middle son, Robby, is on the high school golf team, which just started practicing two weeks ago, and I got the bug again just watching them practice. This must be some sort of mental disorder — a game that’s nearly impossible to master but you go out again and again, frustrating yourself over and over.
The coach asked me if I would drive the JV team to its six upcoming tournaments. Sure, I said, then learned that I’d get to play the courses with the coaches ahead of the team. Wow! The second tournament is at Bandon Dunes, a pro-type course 70 miles north of here that I only dreamed of playing. You have to walk it, but I’ll push my bum left knee to the limit to make it. What the heck! It’s for the team!

I’m not sure exactly how your knee is “bummed”, but a neoprene brace might help support things while you walk that course. Just a suggestion

That’s what I have, and it does work well. The knee is “remolding” itself, the doc says, and may have to be replaced eventually. It’s an age-related thing. Too many miles. I guess my jogging to gear up for the Boston Marathon a few years ago wasn’t such a hot idea afterall.
