Dave Duffy is founder, publisher, and editor of Backwoods Home Magazine. He and his wife, Ilene, and three teenage sons, Jake, Rob, and Sam, live in Gold Beach, Oregon. His grown daughter, Annie, also an editor for the magazine, lives with her Marine Corps husband and two children in North Carolina.

He is a former newspaper reporter for various daily newspapers in Massachusetts, Nevada, and California, and a former technical writer and editor for the Department of Defense. He is author of two books, The Retirement Threat (1977) and Can America Be Saved from Stupid People (2007).
