Jackie I really ernjoy reading your articles tips etc.You pass along some great tips for simpler living. To answer your question I have stored eggs for a couple of months. We eat a lot of eggs on the homestead so they generally don't last much longer than that.Granny says that she has stored eggs until well into winter using this method(3 or 4 months). You should put the container whetre the temp stays fairly constant getting neither to hot nor cold.

Thanks for the information, C.E.! I'm always looking for new old things that really do work. How long have you stored eggs this way? I've used waterglass and really hated to dig through that slime for eggs; it took my appetite right away. Hey! That's good; a new diet method!

Hi Jackie,
Thanks for the rooster stew advice! I just couldn't believe it was that hard to cook a roo! (a 3 page recipie) I cooked him in wine & water with lots of onions garlic & vegies. He was yummy & the chicken & dumplins I made from the stock & leftovers was fabulous. Simple is always better IMHO. I just needed some confidence...thanks for the lift. I'm heading out to plant my peas. Thanks again!

This method does work.I have a substantial flock of chickens and used to have problems with storing surplus eggs.I sell eggs but still sometimes have a surplus. My fridge used to get overcrowded with cartons of eggs.My grandmother told me about using this method to store eggs back in the days before she had refrigeration and I tried it.I use a plate to keep the eggs under the solution as eggs will float in this mixture.
