Yep, the donkeys were kind of shocked when Ladyhawk joined our family. They stuck together against the "foreigner" like they were glued together. That night I had to laugh because I kept them outside in the pen and Ladyhawk inside to avoid trouble. It was a warm night and it would be okay. The donkeys had their noses stuck to the crack under the door and Ladyhawk had hers sniffing them on the other side.

It took two days but now she is out with them in the daytime and only separated at feeding time and night. They did a little pecking order kicking, but they've worked things out and are getting along well. Not buddies yet, but not enemies either. We're making progress!

She is a beautiful creature! But, judging from the looks on your donkeys faces in the background of the picture, they may take some convincing!

Enjoy the new addition(s) to your family!

Oh, Jackie!!! Congratulations! It's no wonder the movies always use Friesans and Andulusians in the movies...they are the most majestic and beautiful horses out there.

Give her a peppermint and a big squeeze from a fellow horselover!

Yes, I'll be training her; that's more than half the fun of raising a baby. Then she'll be truly mine. I start my youngsters wearing tack when theyre just weanlings, putting light weight on them, leading them around all kinds of machinery and other scary things. Then they learn driving basics....all before they're a year old. I go slow and give plenty of time and praise. By the time they're old enough to really "start", they're about bomb proof.

By the way, if anyone wants to see Friesians in action, check out Zorro Mega Mix on YouTube. Several videos that make your heart stop!!! Then you'll see why I wanted a Friesian!

Jackie, she is just beautiful! Will you be training her yourself? It will be fun to watch her grow on your blog!
