Three intensive days to visit and explore our 120-acre wild woods retreat; a fun and exciting learning experience! Covered in this second seminar will be these important skills:

Canning jams, jellies, and preserves
Canning vegetables using a pressure canner
Canning meat and meat products using a pressure canner
Homestead tools
Chickens on the homestead
How to harvest and save seeds from open pollinated vegetables
Cheesemaking
Self-reliant living on a shoestring

This will be a hands-on experience right in our garden, livestock pens, and kitchen.

In addition, there will be ample time for questions during and after each workshop, a guided tour (by us) of the homestead explaining how and what we are doing to increase our self-sufficiency on a limited budget. It’s a seminar like no other limited to only 15 people to give each person a chance to participate fully.

This seminar will be Friday, August 17th; Saturday, August 18th; and Sunday, August 19th, 2012.

  1. I would appreciate more detailed information on the seminars, please. Reading is good, and online sources can be very helpful, but in-person seminars add a dimension we often lose in the virtual world. Thank you for being so generous in sharing your knowledge and experience.
