You hear the old saying, “They fight like cats and dogs.” That doesn’t hold true with our animals! Our cat, Mittens, and dog, Spencer, love each other. They spend hours licking each other and playing like siblings. We get so much enjoyment just watching those two that we don’t even think about turning on the TV.

And it’s not just Spencer and Mittens; all of our animals seem to like each other. The pigs spend time rooting Spencer and gently pulling his skin or ears. The big steers gather around him and lick him while he sits and enjoys the attention. Some cattle dog, huh?

Now if people could just learn from our animals! What a nice, peaceful world it would be! — Jackie

  1. Oh, these pictures bring back similar memories of our black lab and black cat doing the exact same thing! It was even funnier when our dog was a puppy and similar in size to our cat. They’d roll around on the floor wrestling together. It was one big black ball of fur. They are both passed on now but probably playing together in heaven, too!

  2. Franci,

Long time ago, I DID have a horse in the house. I raised an orphan Morgan colt on goat milk. He stayed in my walk-in closet at night and on the farm during the day. Mom never knew! But she did complain that my bedroom smelled like horses!

  3. Love the Pics. With 5 cats and 1 dog I see the snuggle/washing bit often. Wonder why the cats love to wash his ears. Funny when the dog gets playful and wants to “attack” the cats. They just play til it gets too rough and then jump up on the couch. Then “attack” when he naps. Wonder what it would be like to sleep without a bed full of critters??? Cold feet I suppose. Good thing the horses don’t fit in the door….
