As a lifetime Western novel fan, I jumped (no LEAPED) at the chance to pick up several hardcover, vintage copies of many Zane Grey novels — some first editions — for less than $3 each. Of course I have most of his paperbacks as well as most of Louis L’Amour’s books but I want to expand and try to collect both authors’ Westerns in hardcover. And at $3 each, even I can afford it.

After all, it was after reading many of those books as a youngster that I had courage to write several Western novels of my own, which are now sitting on the sidelines waiting for publication. (Any of you a literary agent?) — Jackie

  1. I have a couple hard back Zane Grey books my mom gave to me. She used to read them when she was younger. In Zanesville, OH her grandparents lived across the street from the house where Zane lived for a short time.

On another subject about books….I am reading Veterinary Guide for Animal Owners. I’ve had the book for many years and realized the other week that you are a coauthor! Imagine my surprise. I know you have experience as a vet tech (as am I).

  2. Jackie, I listen to a radion show on AM for a techno guru her name is Kim Komando, she has a web site and has tons of great articles on a wide variety of subjects, including publishing your own book/novels. Might check her out. We have gotten hooked on CJ Box real person writes about a game warden in WY. Really good books. Cheap at used book stores and on amazon in the kindle version. Have never read Zane Grey will have to check it out.

  3. We also LOVE western novels, but prefer Louis L’Amour over Zane Grey. We just Love Books in general and buy most of them at second hand stores or through auctions. Sometimes that’s the only way to find some of the older ones that are getting rarer. Just another thing we have in Common with you, Jackie. Enjoy

  4. I sure understand! I share your love for old books too. Great find on the Zane Greys!
