I'm just curious! I would love to read about what you homesteaders do.

I do, just keep in mind a few things...1-We only live on an acre, so I'm not even close to most people on here, 2-I like to bitch a lot about people and it shows in my entries lol 3-ignore the name DrButcher, its the name of a band I like, and I've used it online for years. I always get questioned on that one...are you a doctor? are you a butcher? lol
But I like to write in it when I have the spare time, usually right after work when I wind down for a few minutes.

Very interesting blog dawgus! I enjoyed reading it and am totally impressed with how much you and Lisa are doing with preps. Awesome. I'm envious of that dehydrator!

Thanks RNMOM. We do as much as we possibly can on our one acre. Every year things grow more, and we take another step toward being as self sufficient as possible. We both want more land, but we'll stay here till my uncle passes away since he is leaving us the family house and everything in it and on the land. It's 7 acres, which will be perfect for us. My grandparents bought the land in the 20's and after my grandfather passed away (when dad was 3), grandma raised 3 kids alone on it. The whole family built her a new house in the late 70's since the old one was tiny and on stilts. So basically, the whole place is family all the way around. Not a single contractor set foot on that place, it was all family and friends from pouring footers to the chimney cap....it's very special to me and I'm honored that it's going to me. No hurry though, my uncle is 73 and still works on the place all day. Though he still laughs and says he wants buried in his fully restored model T lol

I started one back on the Fourth of July. I find that working 60 hours a week and trying to get the home prepped up to be as prepared as possible consumes a lot of time, so I don't update it as much as I should. I hope to get better at it with enough effort though. Canning lots of beans and peaches is keeping me pretty busy lately.

Nice blog Dawgus.
Your acre looks a lot like where I want to be in a couple of years! Keep up the hard work!
