If you use ebay at all there are major changes underway..........

New payment policy.........
"Note from eBay. com
*Ebay.com Beginning late October 2008, all items listed on eBay.com must be paid for using one of the following approved payment options:
·****** Direct credit or debit card payment via a merchant credit card account
·****** PayPal
·****** ProPay
·****** Payment on pick-up
Paper payment methods such as checks and money orders will no longer be accepted on eBay.com.

By January 2009, all approved electronic payment methods will be integrated into eBay checkout. For example, buyers will be able to enter their credit card number directly into eBay checkout, and the payment will be routed to the seller's Internet merchant account or to their PayPal account.

Please note that the new payments policy will not apply to the vehicles categories in Motors, capital equipment categories in Business & Industrial, Mature Audiences and Real Estate."

and their business model......(this does not bode well for mom & pop sellers)

Well Buck this is yet one more step in the wrong direction. I use to sell on ebay, did for a few years and they drove me off with their gouging. They make too much and they know it. Then they changed the feedback policy so you couldn't say anything bad about buyers and cost went up to sell again. Now with this latest change they will make sure they don't have to wait for their money. A lot of my customers paid with money orders as that was their way of doing business. eBay use to be a great way to turn a little money but not anymore.

Hold on before you start saying this is a bad thing. It's like a girl finding out her boyfriend has been cheating on her. I say "good that you found out before you got married and had kids." This is a good opportunity for people on this forum and others like it (a lot of us here belong to many of the others) to start using the barter and buy & sell forums. That completely bypasses ebay and takes revenue away from what I consider to be the wal mart of the internet.

I stopped using Feebay as well. They are extremely poor at dealing with rip-offs & scammers......because they're getting paid to ignore it. Doesn't Feebay own PayPal? Probably the others as well.

I wouldn't buy squat off that site anymore...........

Buck,

I agree and understand where you are 'coming from'. Unfortunately, *bay is the best venue for our search needs. But not our selling needs. We compensate by letting people know that our products are also available, cheaper, at another auction site, via information on our home page.

Until the other auction sites get a good working search engine, and more 'presence', I will have to stay with *bay for some things. Mainly searches.

A *LOT* of folks are doing 'crossing' now. Don't let *bay see you say on a 'me' page that you use another auction site, or anything like that in any auction description. I have seen 'horror stories' of victims when *bay cracked down.

Please note I did not mention the other auction site. Visit our web page if you are interested. Or not. :)

Yes, Paypal is owned by *bay. Don't get me started there!

Jared,

Amen and pass the ammo.

Sounds like they've got a death wish...like Wal*Mart concurrently and Sears 20 years ago.

Sears 20 years ago.

~Martin

Very true. And Sears never fully recovered from forgetting their core business.
