I did something unusual this morning. Rather than listening to music in my weekend travels I decided to listen to a local talk show. It made me realize why I stopped listening to these nuts. Is it just me or is half the world got their heads screwed on wrong. My God, I have never heard so many nut cases in one sitting. They talked about politics and who they would pic for vice presidents. Then they talked about the middle class working folks and problems we are faced with. Anyway I was just wondering, is it me or are these people really that stupid. No wonder we are were we are. I think I'll listen to music from now on as this was a reality check I didn't need.

could not dissagree more. music rots your brain
what were they saying...? what shows? local national or just paid adds? it's sunday..in raido that's a tradionaly liberal radio day..mostly NPR dominates on weekends.
Pluss I listen and watch people I dissagree with to see what they say so I know what the other guy might say when I get into it with him.

Music rots your brain? You are killing me. It must have been liberal radio day alright. It was a local radio station here in Prescott, AZ.

Although, as a musician, I don't feel that music 'rots' the brain, I do think I know where wOs is coming from.

It's true that there's a lot of jibberish on some of those shows but, those folks have just as much Right to express thier views as we do. Unfortunately, some of it can be deceiving and some is intentionally so.
Still, I'd rather hear others opinions and be able to do so with a 'grain of salt' than to 'bury my head in the sand'.
The best way to defeat an enemy is to be close to him.

Joan Jett and I share a birthday. That's about the only time I don't care about the News. I Love Rock and Roll *8) .

You just need to troll around the dial more and find a talk show that suits you. I really enjoy the call-in shows on Wisconsin Public Radio when I'm driving in to work and again on the way home. On Saturday I get People's Pharmacy, Calling All Pets, What do ya Know, Prairie Home Companion, Here On Earth, oh - just a whole boat load of interesting programming. I can't believe we're the only state with really good talk show *producers on public radio!

I don't agree with everything, but that's not a requirement as far as I'm concerned. I do appreciate their efforts to get guests from both sides of an issue - and that they treat people with respect (and expect callers to do the same.)

I've occasionally rolled the dial to pick up some group of idiots with forced laughter and crude humor - that doesn't trip my trigger at ALL!

edited to add -
Oops! I almost forgot one of my favorites; Car Talk with Click and Clack the Tappet Brothers! That's my kind of talk radio!

Your all so right, what was I thinking..Lud's Chris has changed my life with his wit and wisdom. Juston Timberlake and Britney are enlightended.

It's more comon to have sidicated talk...that's not realy talk on the air on weekends.. for example, a local Am staion can not get any rattings on sat morning or sunday morning. They make more money by selling a block of time to a guy who sounds like he could be in your town, or two towns over. in our area, in the morning you have a fellow to talks about politics, money, and this coolaid mix that saves lives. but he forgets to talk about the first two most of the time.

But on weekdays, sales types, and truck drivers are all around on the roads, listening to the radio...and making a living. so AM talk sells better on week days in the capitalist markeet, and on weekends NPR Rules.

Trouble in radio today is that you have to many choices. With WiFI radios that will pick up internet based radio staions.. XM, main stream radio and new teck that will give one signal 3 options.. just radio is and will be forced further in to the cheeper, Dead Doctors Don't Lie sorts of shows.

Most talk radio programs are garbage, nothing but mindless endless chatter. It keeps some people stired up against each other with the ' Its all the republicions fault' Or ' Its all the democrats fault'. Thay earn a living and then some by creating srtife, some people tune them in to bawl them out,
Others worship them and hang on every word, Talk radio does as much as tv news to keep the idiots in this country turned against each other. I listen to michal savage, he stoped An amnisty bill for illegal imigrants. And Art bell.
And even alix jones. The real subject here should be about ilegal laws that have been drawn up to ban talk radio,Some people will say, GOOD!!! ban them all! but we are losing our freedoms this way, I hate NPR (Nationalized Privatly-owned Radio) But i understnd that baning something i dont like, means someone else can then ban something that i do like, I dont listen to it, there is nothing there i want.

We have two local radio stations. One combines local talk (ranching, fishing, hunting) with music. The other is the Reservation Station. The former sounds mostly conservative, the latter liberal. The former plays an hour of country, an hour of mild rock, an hour of Indian pipe or other music, then talk, then the music. Very restful. Although I have to say that the former one DOES str people up - it tells ranchers what is going on in the State capital as well as Washington that will impact them. They are Very informative - but sometimes they DO get emotional, especially when it comes to their livlihoods!
I surely am glad we have left NPR, Rush Limbaugh, and all of that other nastiness, one-upmanship, and nattering foolishness behind.

so did you catch the argument about gas under $4? they said if people are not upset about gas over $4, then the demand for electric cars and wind mills will fall off.

Some times keeping people mad has good effects. Sometimes not..but sometimes yes.

So you think I should give radio talk shows another shot. Well maybe I should look around a little more and find one that fits my taste. You all brought up some good points.

yea I do.
check out talkers mag on line. see the top 100 hosts and get an idea who they are, then see if you can get them. I like Mike Galleger, I've meet him in person. He came out to debate Mike Moore in person, but Moore didn't come to the stage.
Mike was also in Philly when Genno put up a sighn asking people to order in English. The city of Philly trided to shut him down, until Galleger came in and created a mess for the city Fast Eddy built.

I also feel that 1/3rd the time, they don't realy beleave what they are saying...they know you don't eather..it's a way of getting you to listen to them and then understand how the other man thinks.

Actualy Mike Galleger like to have people on his show who he dissagree's with. then gives them a lot of rope. Did a number on the westmorland Baptist Church after they protested at the Amish shooting funeral...then Pa finned the churches actions becouse of the attion that the show brought to the group. It's not leageal to protest within 5,000 feet of a funeral in PA.

Rush sold a letter from uncle same, trying to shut him down..doubled the money and gave it to a charity for cops and Marines.

Even Imus has done good and has good points.

It's all about Buzz, making people feel somthing or talk about somthing. the more buzz, the more people listen, and the more they listen, the more money the staion makes. can be a smutt/shock jock for the simple minded like what's his name... or some other issue with your head out of the gutter.

Good for you Mad, give it a 2nd chance ;D
