I think music is an important part of my life, anybody really. I've never been to a gathering that didn't have some form of music. It's also very relaxing after a long day, or even to pick you up when your down.

I'm more of a Classic Rock, Old Country, Irish kind of guy. I'll throw in a little Classical, but I have to say I can't stand to listen to most Rap or this new Pop Country stuff.
My favorite band at the moment is a local band called Revel's Glen, to bad the lead guy is soon heading back to Ireland.

As for the other side of music, playing I'm learning to play the guitar. It's coming along slow as I don't spend near as mush time as I should, but I have other things that need to be done.

I love music. We are headed of to COuntry Jam in Eau CLaire WI this weekend. It is the one thing I like to go to
every couple of years. Just spend the day listening to some
goood music and relax. It is offally expensive for food and drinks so we leave on the breaks and go into town they have a lot of buffets and specials going on for luches and supper. I like country, classical and rock but hate that new
age rap tecno garbage. I think all that is is a bunch of swearing freaks talking like pigs and getting paid for it >:(
Take care

Becky

I hate up to date tunes. I don't realy care for classic rock. What I find comical is that many of my tunes are just as bad when it comes to subject matter as up to date tunes.. people just don't know the words or what the phrases mean.

On this forum I'd guess any music that starts with Yee-ha
would be popular. ;D ;D

My favorite kinds of music? I love jazz, classical, traditional and comtemporary bluegrass, folk, rock, alt, punk, R&B etc. etc. If I hear it, and it sounds good to me, then I'll play it.

I'm a metalhead lol, but I do love other kinds of music.

I like oldish country music (the last good year in country was 1995 in my opinion). I like punk caberet, alternative, gospel, hymns, metal (not death or thrash metal), and the like.

I'm weird lol.

I'm in the FZRaven/Katrina-Sisu ball park - I have a good collection of classic rock (the GOOD stuff), and an unusually large amount of traditional Irish music (very entertaining for a St. Patrick's Day Hooley), as well as being another metalhead. I also have a lot of classical music - Vivaldi is my favorite.

I also collect written music, and at one time had a hymnal collection.

I went through what I call my Beavis and Butthead era collecting AC/DC and Metallica rather late in life (I think I was 45 then). Beavis and Butthead was the only place you heard music from those really strange groups like Danzig and White Zombie - which I loved.

Contemporary country kills me, but I like the old stuff - from the honky-tonk era. If they are playing country in a store, I'll get in and get out because of the music. I'll even take rap over new country.

Jazz is okay, but easily gets annoying for an exacting person like me. It sounds like they are falling asleep at the wheel and don't know where they are in the song, nor when to stop.

The last good, original, music, in my opinion, was Grunge. With only a few exceptions, the turn of the century brought a lot of turn-your-stomach music.

I'm a self-taught guitar player and our daughter brought me a ukulele from Hawaii last year and I'm getting it figured out.

Several years ago I bought a dulcimer in Nashville, TN. When I got it home our musical son was taking a good look at it, inside the dulcimer he pointed out the paper sticker said it was made in Kansas (LOL) which is where we live. ::)

FZ, it is good that you’re learning to play guitar. When I was starting out I happened to have some friends that liked to get together and play, all were welcome regardless of level and a good time was always had by all. The best part was that it vastly improved my playing, probably through wanting to do better in front of everyone else, but most of all playing with others helps you learn the ropes much faster. Good luck and hang in there you’ll soon go from how can I possibly change cords that fast to boy, I have a lot of time till the next change, I wonder what it would sound like if I did this while I’m waiting.

Dear FZRAven,

Howdy, FZRaven!

Some months back, I asked members what songs they would like to have playing on the stereo in their Homestead/Bomb Shelter. Here's the link, including my long partial list of favorites, all with a theme of survival, freedom, and self-reliance:

I am currently in a time warp playing nothing but DO-WOP for the last couple of months. What great music. I blame the Beatles for killing this kind of music. I'll necver forgive them

Music has always been a staple in my life. I was involved in Choir, and band in Elem. and High School. A few buddies and I started a band out of high school and played a few years together. I learned to play Bass Guitar simply because they needed a bass player.

My wife's life has also been heavily influenced by music. Her Grandma and she sang all the time while she grew up. She is an excellent vocalist and now sings in weddings alot.

We have a piano, acoustic guitar, bass guitar, and harmonica's (which is my current project) at home, and have access to many other instruments.

I can listen to almost anything... I can not stand cursing in a song, or a negative subject matter. Other than that, if it has a good tune or good words then turn it up!

I gotta admit it, I'm a 43 year old metalhead, have been my whole life. I'm the odd guy out lol working on rabbit hutches and sharpening hatchets with Slayer blasting from the garage. ;D

Soon to be 43 also, Dawgus. *:-X
As a musician, I like everything from Grandpa Jones to Judas Priest. A lot of it (my selection at any given time) depends on what I'm doing.
If I had to narrow it down to just a few favorites, it might be Waylon, Johnny Paycheck, Jimmy Buffet, Eagles, Rolling Stones, B B King, Stevie Ray, Judas Priest, Alice Cooper, Ozark Mountain Daredevils, Skynyrd, Charlie Daniels, ... Oh. I said a few, didn't I? LOL
EDIT; I had to add Triumph, Niel Young and Gordon Lightfoot for my Canuck friends. I'll stop now. Oh! And Tanya Tucker and Stevie Nicks. OHHH! Joan Jett and I share the same birthday so, I really rock on my b-day. ;D
I will stop, now. Promise. 8)

I saw Ted Nugent last month. At 60, he still knows how to rock, doc! ;)
