SHUT R DOWN

THIS 4TH LET’S DECLARE OUR INDEPENDENCE FROM HIGH FUEL!!

I just put gas in my car, $4.23 a gallon and talk of $7 a gallon within 2 years. I really don’t believe that if we remain status quo that gas will ever go back down. We have received no help from our current President, either political parties or their Presidential candidates. Our U.S. Congress was so concerned they left early for the holiday weekend without making any decisions on the energy issues. Big Oil Companies, OPEC and the mid-east countries rub their hands together in glee as we middle class Americans watch our savings, our incomes, our quality of life and our futures disappear down the fuel tank.
So what do we do? Well we can stand here and wring our hands in despair waiting for someone to help us out or we can remove our heads from the Middle East sand or should I say fuel tank, stop breathing the fumes, get off the couch, turn off the T.V. and make a difference! As the politicians will say…Yes we can!
Here is what I have proposed we do.

Starting at midnight Thursday July 3rd we park our vehicles and pledge not to move them again until midnight Sunday July 6th. Can you imagine the effect it might have on our country and fuel prices if even 25-50% of U.S. citizens rebel and refuse to drive over a 3 day holiday weekend?

Yes, this may put a crimp in your plans and cause a little bit of personal sacrifice but if we do not try and make a difference, life as we know it will quickly disappear as fuel costs eat up more and more of what we have left to enjoy. One weekend is so little to ask. I believe if we stand strong and unite we can make a difference.
Stay home and spend time with your families and demand that your children stay home and spend time with you. Stress to them that it is their future in the balance here. Have back yard BBQs. Get to know your neighbors with a block party. Play games with your kids. Take the money you did not spend on gas and help the U.S. economy by spending it on American made products and American produced food. We keep hearing that we need and want CHANGE, then let’s get off our butts and make it happen. We middle class Americans are losing ground quickly and I believe it is our patriotic duty to unite for this cause and put some back bone back into our citizens. What better time to make a stand than on the anniversary of our independence? Our quality of life and independence is now at stake. I would like to see this quickly grow into a National movement that will see the citizens of the U.S.A. pledge to park their vehicles for one whole weekend every month and continue to do so till we see a drastic change in fuel costs. I truly believe that if enough of us make a stand you would see the bottom drop out of the oil speculations, reserves rise and prices drastically fall.
At this point in time we have nothing to lose and everything to gain!

Please email this to everyone in your address book, post it on every blog and forum known to man. Send it to talk show web pages, and every source of media you have access to. Phone family and friends; discuss it with co-workers and neighbors. Make posters. It will take us all to make a difference. We have only 4 days to create a citizens non-violent revolution! I believe we can do it…yes we can!

Sort of like the Boston Tea Party. The American NO-GAS party.
It sounds great. I paid $5.09 just the other day.

RISE, REVOLT, DON'T REFUEL !

I think it's the "swamp gas" in Washington D.C. that's the problem. I'll make a difference with my vote in November. -Karen

Do the citizens really elect the president or, is it predetermined by the electorial college ?????? ???

Well, guess my not driving won't make much difference I only go to town maybe once a week and that is usually on Monday. Heck I haven't driven anywhere in 2 weeks..

Shamrock1121 you got it right, to bad there is not a way to use all the methane coming out of Washington wouldn't have to worry about energy ever again.. ;D

question..

If farms are up to date and "factory" then they can make there own power from methane gas, then why do we encurage organic?

If landfills can make methane, why don't we use it rather than just burning it off?

Read up on the Tea Party, it was more risky than saying "I wont' by gas for a day".. good for you guys.. yet, if you want to have a revolt, then do somthing risky. talk a few rig drivers into Stoping traffic on a major highway. Lay down in front of gas pumps and don't move.

When people want to save the ardvarks, stop a war or take away arms, they to DC in Droves...

When we want to change gas prices....we just don't buy gas?

The only thing that will make a real difference is weaning ourselves from gasoline powered vehicles. Yeah, I know....this is tough to do. I commute 98 miles round trip for work....but I WILL NOT move closer to "civilization". So I bought a Toyota Prius (My very first, and only foreign made car) and now get about 48 MPG. If it weren't for that pesky old "WORK" thing....I could ride a bike everywhere I need to go...we're only about 2 miles from Spencer, Indiana....a town of about 3000 people. I can retire in about 12 years....I'm hoping I can still get gas that long!!! Although I am somewhat pessimistic that this goofed up world will last that long ;D

I won't hold my breath.

aside from that, the oil companies and PTB know they got us over a barrel, an oil barrel it seems.

There is an old city dump in Spokane that when it was closed they put a huge rubber bladder over it and vented everything to a burner. It has been burning day and night for over 10 years. Problem is it isn't used for anything.

I remember hearing on the news a few years back about an entire family had died when their (I'm not sure if it's spelled PILE, or PYLE) gas generating plant blew up. I gather these plants are now called "Biogas" generators. Apparently they work....but are somewhat prone to exploding....which would seem to make them somewhat less desirable to use!!

Here's a link to Biogas info : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Biogas

Dear Forum Members,

Folks this chain e-mail letter is just a variation on the same ol' crap about boycotting the pumps for one day, only it's three days. Don't you get it? This wouldn't do diddly! People would just buy gas in advance and the Islamofascists in OPEC and the Federal and State Governments would still get their pound of flesh and nothing would change from this stunt.

Sheesh, what a waste of bandwidth!

A year and a half ago we decided we were not going any where unless absolutely necessary. We go shopping 2 days a month now, for a total of 140 miles. So a tank of gas will last 4 months. There are times of course when we have to make an extra trip to town, but very few. One of those times is a trip to the Doctor once every 6 months. We used to burn 2 tanks a week going here, there any everywhere we didn't need to be going. We did take a vacation last year, first one in 10 years. That should hold us for another 10 years. There is a horse and buggy is our near future. There are plenty of horses around here. People from the city get them only to realize they can't afford to pay for boarding them and so they sell them cheap. I know everyone can't do this but you have to fight these Greedy Parasites the best way you can.

A electric spark motor can be run on wood or coal smoke, imagin a stove in the box of a pickup with the pipe running to the intake manifold and you got it.

250 kawasaki ninja. 68 MPG. That is the best I can do for now. Went from spending 38 bucks a week to 16 bucks every two weeks. Having fun doing it as well. It would really kick their butts if everyone could do it. Motorcycles and bicycles, leave the cars at home. I know a lot of you use your trucks and cars for business and that's just what it is. but their are lots of folks that just need to get from point a to point b and this would sure cut down on fuel sells.

To run my business I spend no less than $25 per day..some years twice that. *Bikes, cars and small trucks...never an option.

Wood and coal smoke cars were built 20 years ago. But I'm sure those who want to save the red nosed, spotted crickeets, don't want to build wood stove cars.

Well we stayed home over the Fourth. It was quiet but just fine. Grilled burgers and enjoyed our patio.

We also have cut back on trips to town. We have done almost all the suggestion that help increase your mileage. We are retired so that helps.

Where I have noticed the gas issue personally is in shipping. We are net shoppers. Got an order (finally from Walton Feed but that is another story) and the shipping was 16.50!

on teh 4th I went to Gettysburg for the reenactment... 250,000 people came every day. each paid $30-$40 to get in the door, another $25 to get in the bleachers..

Reenactors paid arund $40 to get on the field and play.

But It was worth it to spend a week with a few 100,000 people who and care about history.

Hey Pine, I think we enjoyed the same kind of 4th. We had a 15 minute professional fireworks display from the north end of our deck, followed by a 25 minute professional display from the south end. When we purchased this home we didn't realize we were perfectly set for the 4th of July.

New topic...

I want to know --- is anyone else "coasting"? Saw something on TV the other night and this guy drives along and is constantly taking the car out of gear, coasting down hills, putting the car in neutral long before he has to stop at a red light and keeps it in neutral through the red light.

I incorporated his techniques and got better MPG this last gas fill-up than I've ever gotten with all in-town driving. We're also picking some new routes based on the least amount of stops. Sometimes it pays to get off the 40-mph 4/5-lane streets where there's a stoplight every other block (or seemingly so).

I'd also add a word of caution... I happen to live in a small town and avoid "rush hour" traffic (if you can call it that). It took me a few times to get the hang of it all, and now I'm pretty good. Got hubby into training over the weekend after he saw how good the gas mileage was.

I live at the top of a large hill with a new road, I see lots of people coasting past. I know it's what they are doing becouse as they pass the house, I could jog, and keep up with them. but a few yards down the road and they can build up steam.

My friends and I used to do it in our teens as a sort of game..who could coast a longer distance. Just silly school boy stuff. We're doing it again..a game with a practical reward.

Every time the FED prints more money our dollar is worth less and gas cost more. Ya think there's a connection there?

walls0stone
07-07-2008, 08:45 AM
do we print more or barrow it? if we barrow it..I'm saying that just like a deal with a loan shark, we are doing things to keep them happybefore they bust our knees. they don't want to bust you up..your a cow to be milked.

But if we don't drill and let the countries we aparently owe drill, then we keep them from collecting. If we don't drill off the coast or other places, we can keep them happy.

So based on statments made on this sight...I'm seeing evedence that our dollar is worth less becouse we are keeping other countries happy.

wow, that is about 10 million bucks. Who gets the dough?

Created a whole lot of extra jobs, puts a lot of money into PA. Also pays the farmer a fat check for the rent of his land. *Such events take planning and labor so many people were paid for time...
They will plann
G-burg 2010 this fall, but they have one every year.

Don't forget $200 a night for a spectator hotel stay in town.
$20 *in stuff to take home, $60 in Gas, $40 chow, ect.

For reenactors, expences include powder sales, (I burned 100 rounds at 40 grains each..times 16,000 people) buying Gear, firewood, Ice and water (millions of gallons)... horse tack...bla bla bla.

Now how much of that was taxed? How many small businesses were supported? how much over time was paid out at every nickel and dime store in the G-burg, Cashtown York area?

How many people learned somthing...saw somthing or felt something about history.

How many reenactors got to spend a weekend with real, living, concervitivepeople , *who love this country?? (including tons of people who come from other countries to reenact our history becouse they love us.)

HHHMM what if we all stayed home? *
