With all the salmonella outbreaks this article caught my attention. Don't know if we will be eating out for a long time, not that we do very often.

Eleven employees at an Amarillo IHOP have tested positive for salmonella, local health officials said Monday, and the restaurant remained closed for the seventh straight day.

That's really frightening.
Whatever kind of vegetables that I have to buy get's double washed, I'm not taking any chance's. It will be so good when the garden is ready.
It seem's that's about all we hear about anymore. Our government doesn't seem able to track all foods anymore because they are coming from so many countries. You'd think after all the food that is contaminated we could come up with a better method.

I've never trusted employees to use proper hygiene at restaurants.
I remember seeing one cook put on rubber gloves with which to handle food - Good. Then she got down on her knees to rummage in a cupboard looking for something, putting her gloved hands down on the floor - Not Good.
I chose to eat at home, thank you.

I read somewhere that 25% of food preparer people have salmonella (aka are carriers) and don't know it. I've been eating at home alot more too after that lol.

Let me tell you I had a hamburger at a local chain right before this all came out about the salmonella, first in a couple of years. I was sick for a week and still having some stomach problems. I can't even think about eating out right now!!!
Thank goodness the garden is coming along well or I might starve...
As much as it costs to eat at IHOP one would think the place would be spic and span! ::)

Dear Forum Members,
It gets worse, folks. At the store where I work, I saw one of the Pharmacists go into the men's room (I was in there at the time,) and the Pharmacist used the restroom...and walked out without washing his hands!!!
:o >:(
Needless to say, if I ever need a prescription, I'm not getting it filled there, no matter how big a discount I may get.
