now I love rain...good for the well and all. but rain with 'drama' I could do without! STORMS...yesterday was a real killer...today thru Monday...UGH. love my wooded area, but those trees become scarey in high wind and lightening. not to mention my dogs......suddenly they are transformed into drooley masses. they sure hate thunder. lol going to be another long day, probably without the benefit of the internet. YIKES. ;D

Hi Dorie - well we haven't seen any decent rain for some time here in CO - at least not where I am - where are you? I would love some extra moisture for my garden, maybe you can send some of that rain our way!

I'm in western PA. 'they' say we're just gaining up to 'norm' for waterfall. funny.......seems like it's been raining forever in my neck of the woods! guess it's washing clothes without guilt, but no hanging out today. drats. I do hate to moan about it, tho. toooo many years of dry conditions, which still may be the norm next month. then I'll be crying once the water barrel is dry and I can't water. feast or famine as they say, right?!!

I know what you mean. we got a little rain last night and this morning, together less than half an inch. enough to settle the dust and not enough to make a difference. I went out in the morning and watered and then we got another shower. so maybe the combined rains and my watering will make a real difference.
High winds scare me too. It seems every time we have a storm a couple of big trees get blown over. we have some big ones next to the house and we need to remove them. I am afraid one may land on th roof. when we built we had no qualms, they are oaks and the oaks I knew got huge and lived hundreds of years. Now they seem to get sick and fall over. A big twin white oak just came crashing down a couple of weeks ago. I wish it would rain all day and all night. Our pastures are so dry, nothing grows anymore.

if this keeps up, your looking at even higher food prices! hay was stunted by the lack of sun and COLD...I SAID COLD! Global warming...BULL! Corn at $8.00+ and soy at $16. remember after you sell the adults...you have fewer calfs. supply and demand.
think I'll start growing rice in Pa. Mountain Grown Rice and grass feed beef.

I'm in No. Cal, the mountains east of Redding, and we had a thunder storm last week set off around 300 fires. We've were under a notice to prepare to evacuate for three days. Warnings were lifted yesterday thankfully. Down in Redding they have fires all around them and the smoke is so bad you can hardly breathe.

Hey cutter - my BF is originally from Redding. I've been trying to find something out that way - land maybe - are you in Shasta/Lassen area? Shingletown? Beautiful up there. We were last there in Sept 2007. Hope the fires are under control soon -
