I was wondering if anyone here knows much about passive solar set ups?

My DH and I are house hunting, well we went to look at a new listing the other day,and upon pulling up to it saw that one wall was covered in black passive solar tiles..........

Can you tell me how this works and what it's main use is?

I'm thinking it was mostly as way to supplement the heating somehow since there were no actual solar panels and no wiring of any type.I'm just not sure how that really works.

Thanks!

I'll bet that they are for collecting heat. Do ya got a pic?

NO,unforuntately the online photo does not show that side of the house, but it is on a south facing wall.

On my next day off I'll drive by it and snap a shot of that side.

Passive solar can be very effective. Here is a link that helps explain the principle.

This is a link to the listing to give you some idea of what I'm talking about, but I'll have to wait until Tuesday to get a picture of the side with the passive solar tiles.

Well,I was going to go look at it on the inside Tuesday, but it will not pass inspection for our loan,so there's no point in going back....

But if you can picture one out side wall completely covered in what appeared to be 12x12 black tiles, that's about the best I can do to describe it.
