It's not just the Aztec thing.
Klinton also signed a bunch of REAL ID and other government crap.
Industry is also touting a new greener way to screw us by 2012.
This outfit I work for will be ending their company retirement policy that year.
I figure by then most corporations will have just about phased out any kind of medical coverage. Thus by forcing the government to create a new national health care industry that will suck aniother 15% from our pockets.
Spanglish will be the new language and we'll have to push 1 for American.
China's favored nation status will be replaced by Africa.
The European Union will have a multi-national army ready to fight anyone who does not comply with their policies.
I'm sure I missed a few but youu get where its headed.

"We're all Gonna DIE!"
Somehow I always knew that without the preachers, prognosticators, protagonists, and politicians saying so. It's just a matter of when.
Got a new email link yesterday with "proof" that the natural gas deposits under the US are not pockets at all but all part of one HUGE pocket - and the water they push into them at different places is causing so much displacement that all it takes is the right combo of air and gas and BLOOEY! - we are all gonna go up in a ball of fire! That's why - according to the webpage - Bush has brought property in SA and is moving, why all of the industry has moved to India and China, why why why... We're all gonna DIE!
If global warming or cooling doesn't getcha; the Canary Island volcano falling into the sea and drowning the entire east coast 150 miles inland, the final massive earthquake on the West Coast, the Great SuperVolcano under Yellowstone, or the SuperHurricane coming in, will.
Yawn. it's all a scam based on interpretation and the natural greed for making money by predicting the evil about to befall, and raking in thousands of gullible people's money to "stop" it. Yeah, OK, whatever. I never expected to live forever. The last great tsunami that was predicted, I staged a party at the local bar with water wings required to get in. The last hurricane I broke out the grill and had a party, BYOB. We are all really and truly gonna die - someday. I promise. Can I have your money now?
If I have to get a National ID instead of a Driver's License, or a passport to cross state lines, I'll just settle in on the farmstead and sell my truck for a buckboard.
PS welcome home Archangel!

I flew to Tahiti on Dec 21, 1999 and scheduled my flight back on Jan 1, 2000. I figured if the world was going to end I might as well be in paradise. ;D Had a great vacation, no one hardly at the resort because of the fear of Y2k, and on the morning of Jan 1st alas, the systems were still working and I had to get home on time. :-[ Only a half dozen people on the entire flight home on Jan 1st!!!!
I think this belongs in conspiracy theories, but what do I know except crying wolf isn't working with me any more. Now if you want to know what the price of gas is going to do to our food supply and if you aren't growing much of your own by now then we have something to talk about!
My 2 cents.

To all of the above
One of these days some lucky stiff will get a date right by accident then half the world will worship he or she as a profit. Now here is a prophetic message. Jesus is coming back in the future and he will be kicking some serious butt. No more Mr. lamby poo , He will come back as a lion. And the book has already been written a long time before 2012. You know , we should combine our talents and write a book. We could title it Backlanders will survive 2012.

The 2012 date has to do with the end of the Mayan calendar, which ends December 21, 2012. If the Mayan civilization were still around, they'd probably be making a new calendar to use.

I thought about this thread at work last night.
Each of us has our thoughts about the end--or whatever comes.
But the growing of food---procuring water--my rant--you cant grow anything without proper water management---being educated --skilled in other word to grow food---wherther it be a beef/chicken/rabbits or a life sustaining garden or fruit trees etc etc.
I find it ironic however --that even at odds on the ending of planet earth--we all have taken many different paths--
But all of us headed in the same direction.
Life sustaining----survival---however we see the end coming.
How wonderful---all paths lead home huh?

Wasn’t there a “Harmonica Convention” a few years ago when all of the planets lined up and every crystal twister and their cousins headed for Chaco Canyon, Stone Henge et al? Don’t recall any major outcomes from that or any outcomes at all if I’m remembering correctly. Much ado about nuthin’… ::)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Harmonic_Convergence
The Harmonic Convergence was a loosely organized new age spiritual event that occurred on August 16 and August 17, 1987, when groups of people gathered in various sacred sites and "mystical" places all over the world to usher in a new era. The date was based primarily on the Maya calendar, but was also affected by interpretations of European and Asian astrology...

I have a serious problem with all of it. Maybe because my brother - "bless his heart", and if you are Southern you know that is an insult or about to be! - in 1987 packed up his family, sold everything he had, maxed out his credit, and he and his "church" went to hide and wait for the rapture. He disappeared and we have never heard from him again - although part of that might have to do with the fact that he didn't get what he felt he deserved from Daddy's will!
A while back I googled him and he appears to be living in the same town he "left to Satan". Ahem. He never was quite right - Bless his heart.
Jeez, maybe the Aztecs ran out of paper to write their calendars on past 2012 - or maybe they figured that the world would run out of virgins to sacrifice by then?
Sorry, can't help but be sarcastic. ::)

Its the year that nasty emissions control devices arrive on garden tractors, and other off road equipment. Bye Bye for inexpensive outdoor equipment. It will more than likely result in a massive reduction of imports from the east since (at least initially) they would be unable to comply with EPA requirements.

The sun has had a blank face without any sunspots for days and weeks at a time. But from now forward to 2012, sunspots should start appearing again all over the sun, leading up to what NASA astrophysicist, David Hathaway, Ph.D., thinks will be one of the more intense solar maximums on record.

Perhaps there is something to prophecy after all.

The TV series 'Ancient Prophecies' hosted by David McCollum described a calendar of future events found within one of the Egyptian pyramids. The calendar concludes in 2012 or so they say.
Here's another 'stretch' of a connection regarding 2012:
The Biblical books of Daniel, Revelations and others describe a 7 year period (actually two 42 month periods, the second called 1290 days with a further note of 'after 1335 days'), followed by a 45 day period. Oddly, the number of years between the loss of the Temple Mount by the Hebrews (587.5? b.c.) and their full reacquisition of that site (1967.5 c.e.) is almost exactly equal to the number of days in 7 years and that period of 2555 (7 X 365 = 2555, but years are 365.25 days and propetic years were supposedly 360 days) years seems to include many events that supposedly are to occur during the 7 year Tribulation period. So, add 45 to 1967 and you get 2012.

isn't socail insecurity sopposed to be bankrupt in2012 or may that will be hitlery's second term, hell the first term is a sure sign of bad things to come.
Please read this thread for more details on 2012 and a book
that documents many of the events that are lining up today
for.......something....to happen.

One must remind themselves that the Earth, in many ways, is
a living being that has it's own needs and agenda to survive.

2012, mmm as i recall, the Myan calender, not the aztec, runs out on dec 12 2012. the book of chinese prophecy i cant remember the name puts the end of the world at 2012. a pharonic calender stops on 2012. maybe coinsidence maybe not.
personally if something that big happens all bets are off. but that doesnt mean that we should not prepare for hardtimes.

I happen to know that the world is going to end on Dec. 31, 2008. My calendar doesn't go beyond that date. ;D
Really? It's a bunch of nonsense.
Some people believe in Mayan prophecies. *Some people believe in Middle Eastern prophecies (Bible stuff). *Some people call prophecies "nonsense." *Whatever floats your boat, I guess.
But anyway, I think the Mayans meant there would be some pretty rough changes around this time. *I don't think they meant that the planet was going to explode or anything. *
Whether or not a person wants to believe in prophecies is one thing. *But there is a lot of evidence to point at some drastic changes about to occur stemming from depletion of resources. *One of which is clean drinking water. *Most of our water is now polluted to some degree and it is getting worse. *One day we will be buying our drinking water, the next day the prices will begin to go up. *That won't be by 2012, but it's not that far off though. * It will be a lack of various resources necessary to our civilisation that will soon be causing some interesting changes. *Just my opinion.

Don't lose hope, msta, I've been looking for 9 months and have a list of 6 properties that I will be traveling 2000 miles to look at in the last week of March. I see what I want, I'm buying it; come home, finish packing, and - gone.
