Warm fuzzies going your way. Dang it turned off cold this morn, had a light freeze last night. Got to go our and pick up a little sheet rock to patch that hole I made on my latest plumming job. You up for a Fall Rondy, maybe we can get 6-8 TX/OK/LA/AR folks up for a weekend camp out at your place. God knows I sure need a break!

I've been trying to visit throughout the day but winter is closing in and I still have insulation to put up and lots of firewood to gather. Additionally, prep the garden area for next year, get some fruit and nut trees planted, and finish getting the chicken coop squared away. Ahh, the fun never ends!

Hi Annie. I'm here just not very often. Not much time since I am working again.

OK, I broke down and visited the gulch. *Found a link "Homcoming for Annie" but that doesn't seem to go anywhere. *Did I miss something?
So what say girl you want to try and do this???
Hells bells girl, I'm not spoutin hot air here - so lets have a little quicky Fall Rondy! *Seems to me we should be able to get a few folks off their backsides for a little get together for a weekend uh? * This weekend might be a little quick so hows about the next, say Nov 16 - 18? * *OK, Sweetie and I'll spring for the beer. *Now, who's gona bring the beans and franks, tater salad, Frito Pie and maybe a chicken or three for the spit? *Hay chloe3388, what ta ya say to a little break from the "metro madhouse"? **Who knows, maybe we could pry Jim off the pot for awhile? *Maybe even make it a Co-Rondy with a couple locals over at the gulch.
Come on girl, it's your house so let's see if we can MAKE IT HAPPEN"!

With all this winter aire slowly creeping in, I need to go cut some firewood myself, Tripper. Funny thing... I have a friend that loves to come over my place and cut wood.

Td--Good to see you---I would come split your wood---if you got a 35--40 tonner-- ;D I still have my axe--But not the muscle---moving to the city limits--ruined that--
funny how a little wood splitting will toughen ya up and lean you down!!
I step out in the moring and smell the pines and oaks--and I get homesick--for my off-grid place---slpet with an open window for years---cant to that in the [[city]]

Stopped by the gulch the other day. *Now, meaning no disrespect but if you're looking for something comatose look no more. *I know Pri is a top notch guy so it could be just a seasonal thing but I didn't see anything of much interest.

Pre is one of my yankee buddies--But he has been up to his ears in work and his new place--SOOOOOO we dont see much of the Leader /Author of the Gulch---I miss that too!!
I think winter will bring on a wave of posting for both Forums.
I hate it when good and useful things die---I could read for a month and not catch up--with what I missed this past year.
I have been consumed with survival and regrouping.
Lot of New faces here with no connection to the old group--so new bonds have to be formed---Dam we had a group here----unbelievable intelligence and skills.
New ways of doing things---noone needs my skills with oil lamps and wood burners--we have corn stoves and LED stuff[[No harm no foul--12voltz- ;D]]
Old age kinda puts ya on the fringe of the new---Thats life i guess.

Yeah, sure was nice to see all the anger and meaness finally leave the house. That really got old and of course many had ownership but by-n-large a much better site now with many new voices around. Seems like the "no personal attacks" rule is working well even after an occassional reminder to a newby socialists. Of course they don't stay around much as they need the hate to give them purpose.

Sorry, I think you just got your wires crossed a bit Hon. This isn't a slam on anyone and diffinetly not Annie as I consider her one of a very few kindered spirits. I'm just expressing my pleasure at the improvments at the house and honestly, we just about all residents had ownership in past offenses. Just my humble opinion, nothing personal. Oh yea, FYI I'm a commando.

Not a problem!! ;D

TNDAD---it is an experience few have known.
The very act of taking a bath is an adventure--especially when its 30*---and the tub is on the back-porch---but some plastic--turned it into a steam room---the trip back into the house could be a bit chilly---
And you know---when I think of all that was required of me to excisit----the memories are sharp----keeping wood dry---having 6-months to a years supply of lamp oil---6-10 cords of wood split--wherether i felt like it or not---now If I dont feel like it right now---i dont write the electric bill check.
Hauling a supply of water--all I had was an inground cistern for household use---Of course I have drank it in a pinch--knew how to purify it---
Living alone--in the winter-- dark time --meant entertain ment----
reading---planning my week---
making chocolate cakes in a caste iron skillet--
I worked for a man right now the road from me---that ran a split wood business---for 61/2 years i sat on a stump---with a pillow i made [[for bun--comfort]] and split wood---unusual? i loved it---freedom from makeup---getting dressed up--driving in traffic---it was seasonal--but I save up---we quit splitting the middle of dec until early spring--would still be frosty and some surprise freezes---when we started back up again.
i had one modern convience--a boom box---Thats how I found Alex Jones and some nudging for FREEDOM!!
I had found BWH mag in the BX at Ft Sam Houston in San Antoinio Tx when my husband was dying in 1993--he died in 1995---I moved to my Place of great peace and quiet and developed a new life---Very new.
Off grid---It isnt for everyone---it can be mentally stressful at first----you are all you have---period---No Er--no ambulance service--No phone---and No computer.
I lived for the Mag to arrive---I learned alot---
Not all of it was work---I had a lot of embrassing things happen While I was Learning--and some goofy times---
Get there TNDAD--you will never regret it--But prepare.

I've got a 12 ton hydraulic splitter that works off of my air compressor. It's a bit slower that the standard Home Depot/Lowes machines but there again - so am I.
