I live in South Texas and it seems that everyone i talk to says that if you use a spotlight at night to do anything that it is against the law. What is the big deal on using a spotlight on your own property to check up on things? Im not wanting to do anything against the law.
Thx. J

What they are talking about Jen is spotlighting deer and shooting them.
Ain't no law against a spotlight (that I know of)
Game wardens watch for the flash as the light shines back and forth across the sky
Q-beams are real powerful and show up for miles
Just don't get caught with one and a gun or you'll have to do some real fast talking

Thx for the advice ol hoot. I wouldnt think of shooting a deer at night. When I get situated i would like to buy some goats and just wanted to keep a spotlight in case they have unexpected/unwanted visitors. And I think a spotlight is a good thing to have way out here anyway.
Thx again,
J :)
It's legal to spotlight varmints and preditors in Texas last time I checked. Just notify your local game warden and you should have no trouble. I never have.

I don't know if the sport is still practiced, but when I was a youngun, they called it "bushwacking" and the spotlight was used to illuminate teenagers . . . who invariably ran for the darkness, while pulling their clothes back on!!!
