That picture there under my name is my trusty Honda 4 wheeler.
Picture was taken on some land I have leased close to where I live and just a little ways out of the woods from my deer stand.

I call it the booger woods cause that's where the booger bears live.

Gotta watch out for them booger bears.

We ain't really had bears in this part of the country in 100 years or better.

Used to be lots of them but some folks shot em all for the grease way back and now they all gone.

I like hunting.

I like all the getting ready and scouting and all the anticipation as much (or more) as the actual hunting.
After the shot it ain't nothing but hard work and good eating.

I mostly hunt deer, hogs, squirrels, ducks and rabbits.
I had coon hounds at one point but nowdays all the land is so locked up with gates and fences that you can't go around like you once could.
Get caught tresspassing with a gun and it's big trouble so now I don't have any hounds.

I used to do some trapping but it's got where there ain't no money in that anymore so I don't hardly set traps like I used to.

I mainly like having a place where I can go and get away for a bit.
I can do pretty much as I please on my leased land.
The owner is absentee and never comes around.
He just wants his check once a year and us not to tear his place up.

We try and fix it up along and take care of things.

If TSHTF I will have a close by place to escape to and make a decent stand.
Woods is full of game.
It's got a big lake on it that is stocked with bass, catfish and perch.

2 miles down a country road from a state highway (FM Road) and then another mile past a locked iron gate to the house.

1,300 acres to do with as I please and all for $375.00 a year.

Deals like this are out there if you look for them.

Camphouse don't have electricity run to it.
Have to hook up a generator to run lights and a/c etc but that ain't a problem and for long term I would do something else anyway.

I like to cook with mesquite, makes food tasty but the only way to get it here is to buy it at Walmart or haul it in when I'm out west and I don't get out west to often.

I lurked here a long time and finally decided I would start posting a little bit.

This is a good site and there is lots being said on the other boards.
I'd like to see this general board get cranked up again (without all the cranks though)

I live just outside (east) of Dallas and trust we have plenty of mesquite. I lived in Kaufman County , just east of here, and we were lousy with mesquite. You don't have to go to West Texas to get it.

BTW I live IN Mesquite the city.

Got a place on Lake O The Pines just north of Longview and sister is down on Toledo Bend. Piney woods are hard to beat. Archery season opens soon, can't wait.

I live in the east part of Texas too. Which lake is that in the picture? I'm on a deer lease in Votaw this year, it's not as nice a camp as yours is, though.

No booger bears in the piney woods but I understand there are some bigfoots.

Well I be----I live in East Tx also---right out of Lumberton.

Thats a beautiful place---Wanta share?? ;D

I had 50 little acres up north of Huntsville--for over 10 yrs. Lived in an old house that was primative to say the lest.

There's bears in these woods--only they walk up right and only have hair on thier chest and are broad shouldered--oh excuse me I forget myself!! ;)

Thats quite a find for 375.00 a year---absent owner? he most be dead or dumb---

But congrats on the find.

And btw---please dont kill the squirrels---Now those piney routers are something else---

Mesquite is as highly prized as hickory is around here.
Love cooking withit also--but its the pitts to split by hand.

good to have you.
