Do you have any idea how aggravating and frustrating it is to post a long and thoughtful response to a topic only to be informed that I cannot post and the topic is locked because someone, in this case, "CarolAnn" decide to move it somewhere else. I'm really pissed and I'm gone!

RS,

I'm sorry you lost a post, but one of the things moderators do is to make sure threads are posted in the correct board. When they are not, they move them.

I had the same thing happen to me once, and I'm the Admin!

Ever since, I've always composed my posts offline, usually in TextPad -- a great program, btw -- and then copy and paste it into the reply box. I do that because with all the interruptions I get, it might take an hour from when I begin the message to when it gets posted.

A much easier tactic is to simply highlight and copy the entire response before you click the Preview or Post button. That way, should something go wrong, it is on your machine's clipboard and can be pasted into a new response if necessary.

I'm sorry I can't recover the lost post, but I do understand the frustration. Fortunately, it does not happen often.

If you click on the link in the "moved" thread, it'll take you right to it. It's not locked, it's just put into Energy > Conventional oil & Gas where it belongs.

If someone gets all in a snit and quits over something little like this, he'll never make it in the back woods, or possibly anywhere else these days! ;D

Thank you, CarolAnn, you hit the nail on the head with your comment about quitting over a trivial matter. I've cooled off now and I agree with Admin, that I could have and should have copied and pasted my post so it wouldn't have been lost.
I will find it and redo the post. It was mostly about my working to more efficiently manage energy consumption.
I wondered if it was possible to "flag" this situation to warn folks ahead of time. I failed to notice the little "locked" icon.

RS - I'm so glad you're still with us!

I apologize also - because I discounted the frustration you felt at loosing a long post. I've got to admit - I've had exactly the same feeling when I've lost something I've worked on that I really cared about.

Your comeback shows maturity that I can learn from! (and I'm OLD!) ;)

You ain't old Carol.. Just well seasoned.. :-* ;)

I've lost lots of long winded posts myself because I was on dial up. Type for an hour.. Enter.. and.."Poof"! I'm not a good typer and I hate it too so you can imagine how angry that I became! (Surprized my computer is still alive..) :-X

Been on other sites and typed what I though was a good response and had it removed by mods or whoever myself. I feel your frustration! >:(

Thanks guys for working this out. I appreciate it..
