Look what I found in my kitchen last night! Actually my cats found it.. We had all just gone to bed when it sounded like the house was falling down, I got up and went in to the kitchen to find my 3 sissy cats had cornered this snake on the kitchen cabinet by the stove. While they kept him busy I ran and got the fireplace poker and shovel. Pinned the snake to the wall as it was trying to get behind the stove.. All the while trying to move the cats and yell for hubby and son.. Grandson (age 9) was on the couch and I hollared at him to get his dad up... Hubby and son ran into the kitchen and about passed out... There I was with this dang snake pinned stuff going everywhere off the cabinet cats freaking out and me trying to grab it's head as it was wiggly around..
I had my gun in the pocket of my robe but not going to shoot in my kitchen, lol. Just painted it!!! The guys took over trying to pin the thing before it got behind the stove. Son stabbed it with the poker in the mouth, just made it wiggle even more, heh wonder why.. So I leaned over the men and grabbed it as the head went by, guys had a fit!! Took it out side and hubby shot it.. Sure was hard to get to sleep after that.. LOL

What kind of snake is that? My wife would leave and never come back if we had something like that in the house.

It is a chicken snake not poison. But it scared the stuff out of me!. I pay attention to those cats now when they act like something is wrong.

jim,
Now that scares me!! And I hate spiders!!! Snakes are not bad just don't need to come to the kitchen...LOL
Almost looks like what we call a pinesnake here in Wis.
Please dont take offence, Chloe3388, but I cringed when I read your post, but keep in mind we are snake owers here. I have rescued a snake simular to that a couple years ago. She was over 6ft, how did I know it was a she....she layed eggs..heeh...same year we rescued a 5ft garter snake and anyone who knows garters know that is HUGE for one..yep, she too had babies, but she gave live birth..24, which happened to late to release them so I kept them all winter and released them in the spring. They are harmless and chances are would of left on their own. Snakes do not like to be around people. It just probably wondered in by mistake, but would of left on its own. :) We have alot of snakes here as well, but none have bothered our chickens. Pinesnakes are not constricers (spelling) like my red-tail boas are.
Spiders? Well my daughter has spotted blackwidows here as well as fiddle backs..she very gently scoops them up in a jar and 'relocates' them outside. This is from a teenager who a few years ago screamed at the site of them...haha
Her thoughts are...its not their fault we are here, they didnt know..so she finds a nice place they will be more happy and negoates a rental deal with the manager..hahaha
Im not dissin you on snakes, nor anyone else. Then again, I could always put up pics of my 10ft male and 6ft female boas..would you sleep a bit more comfortable then? ehehhe
Now that I think of it, people bring in animals from all over for us to tend to. Hmmm, maybe I should put up my "No Vacancy" sign again ;)
