I don't even think we have any of those around here... I always see everyone talking about them, but I've NEVER seen one.

I discovered another way to get discounts from HF. The other day I checked on line to see if they carried an item and it was on a significant sale as well. So I went in and found that the price was the street asking price - no sale price. In talking with the kid he says that if I bring in a print out of the sale page from their site they will honor that price. Well when I got back with the print out, they in fact did honor it! Since then I have found several items on deep discount on line and taken advantage of it.

Pardon my ignorance but how much power is coming from 45w? please answer in the terms of what appliances will the power?

@ 12 volts.. The panels will produce around 3.75 amps in full sunlight..

Its not realy how much will the panels do. Its how much the whole set up can do.

Let me try to give you an example. I am running one of the 45W kits on my 16 battery set. I also have an inverter to use my regular appliances off those batteries. My wife daughters and I can camp for a weekend using that stored power. But with onle a 45 watt set it might take 30 days to charge the batteries back up full. As I get more and more panels it will take less and less time to recharge the panels. In the end with a solar only setup you want your panels to equal your dayly use. You also want enough batteries to run a few days if there is no sun.

Hope I got that right.

If you could locate a single 45w light bulb... thats it, end of story.
Conservation & storage ARE the key, they allow us to do more with less.

I am trying to find something just large enough to power up a small bulb for light in my chicken house. What do you reccomend?

Chickenhead, get one of the motion sensor solar lights from HF and save some money. It has a built in battery, also could use a solar lantern available at Wal mart for about $20. These give 8 hours light on a 3 hour charge.

I use two 45 watt HFs and a 2 85 watt kyocera panels for all my cabin electrical needs. The HFs actually do better in low light than the more expensive panels.
The HF power regulator is junk and wont last long so buy a better one.
