Fine article and fine young man. Most often, success in life requires dependablity, extra effort and hard work. This traits are almost impossible to learn after a person is grown.
A couple of weeks ago, neighbors Smith dropped by neighbors Jones. *The Smiths told the Jones that their 14 year old son was looking for jobs to make money this summer. *
The kid arrives around 10:00 AM the next day. *The kid has never pulled a weed in his life. *He has difficulty in learning the technique as well as what is not a weed.
Jones tried to put him on a riding mower but he had trouble turning and took out some small schrubs. *Tried a walk behind mower but instead of doing small areas, he just took off across the country. *He didn't understand that you move thingsand mow where they are at. *He just wanted tomow around them.
The Jones invited the Smith kid in for dinner, and as kids his age will do, he ate awesomely.
After dinner, the kid went outside for about 15 minutes or so, poked around at some things, and told Mrs. Jones that he was through for the day and would come back tomorrow to finish up. *The Jones said they had plans and just paid him what he wasn't worth to keep peace.
Sadly, the youth you wrote about is an exception (that why he is newsworthy). *Most parents let whether or not children are successful be their choice. *As with so many things too many parents think it is someone else's responsibility to teach their children responsibility. *And that while many parents appear to believe that dedication and hard work are good, too many believe they can be replaced by education.

Wonderful story, thanks for sharing.
We sure need young people to see the future for farming.
Awsome article Suzy. One of my granddaughters is planning to be a vet and I am going to share this article with her. She will be 13 on August 8 and takes care of their 4 horses including giving them shots and everything.
