View Full Version : sprained ankle, new grandbaby, sick goat
Hi folks, don't know if this post will get moved to one of the other areas or not but just thought I'd check in with you all!
I hope you are all having great summers on your homesteads!
So far, IN THE PAST TWO WEEKS, I have a new grandbaby born in Michigan (10 lbs 2 ounces!!!); sprained my ankle badly by stepping in an un-filled-in old post hole (ankle is still BLACK and SORE SORE SORE!); and Harley, our goat who posed for the Christmas cards, has pneumonia but is much better....
Still writing freelance, and still having customers in my little farm store....
Did check in a couple of weeks ago long enough to hear about the scare with Jackie Clay's son David and have been remembering him in our prayers!
Hey Suzy. Congrats on that new grandbaby but I gotta tell ya I still have the biggest since Jonathan(grandson who is now 16) weighed 11lbs 5.5oz. That was one big baby and the hospital had to ask us to go buy diapers since theirs were to small! Glad to hear Harley is getting better and hope your ankle is soon all well. I guess I haven't been checking things out to good since I did not know about Jackie's son. Good to hear from you.

Woo Hoo on the new family member
d'oh on the ankle
hope all is well
I had to have the vet euthanize Harley last night around 7 p.m. He just got worse and worse and we weren't going to watch him suffer so....
Some of you may "know" Harley as the big billy goat who wore a Santa hat on our Christmas cards this year!!! He is the "daddy" of my goats Stomie, Sally, Maddie and Johnny so he lives on in them...
but I will sure miss him! He was a card!
Also something "ate" one of my chickens (one of the four younger ones who were raised in a box on my carport....They are nearly the size to start laying now but always come back and roost on the carport every night....tonight I'm going to wait until the other three are pretty much zonked out and them I'm going to take them to the chicken house to roost with everybody else!
My foot and ankle are still black and hurt like heck today....probably on it too much yesterday going back and forth to the barn about Harley....but it is not as swollen as it was.
This morning I hauled five loads of JUNK from my carport to the upper and lower "barns" so the man can finish painting this weekend. This was all stuff Roy puts on carport "temporarily" and then it stays there six years! ha!
You all take care!
Sorry to hear about Harley and your chicken and you better try to stay off that foot.

So sorry Suzy......praying things get better. Jo
still hanging in there! foot is still black! there's no way right now I can stay off it completely!
Some of you know that I can't take ANY pain relievers by mouth so I'm just toughing it out.....but boy this is one time I'd really love to be able to pop some sort of pill! ha!
I hope you all have wonderful weekends on your homesteads!
