I live about an hour away. Been to Breezy Point..great place. Brainerd is just a small town but I think has a bit of "touristy" shops.

i will be visiting battle lake mn this august. i will be staying on the lake & i think the closest towns population is about 74. i dunno exactly where Brainerd is but its beautiful, peaceful country out there & i am sure there are some places nearby for some short hikes if all other entertainment fails. i plan on fishing, reading & napping!

Have friends who own a cottage on Pickerel Lake near Battle Lake. It is a great area for fishing, some historical stuff I think.

Breezy Point has lots of things to do including a 19 hole golf course. (that's 18 holes of golf and the bar. ;) I don't golf but had good time while there.
I was there for a business conference so we were kept busy during the day and lots of people to converse with at dinner, etc.

The weather should be good..could be a bit warm but low humidity. Problem is that Brainerd is in the same drought zone as we are and everyone is praying for rain so.......sorry but we all want it desperately particularly going into winter. Winter here usually starts at about Halloween.
