this happened a few days ago in a town about 15 miles north of me. these were hard working folks, mennonite dairy farmers. i did some work on a "decorative" farm next to them & had the opportunity to meet the wife & her daughters a few times. the girls would often drop by after school to bring eggs, milk or other home made goodies. a few times their mother was with them.

they were a family of peace & love. as i was working on the next farm over i would watch the girls, often a group of 3 or 4, walk down the dirt road adjoining the farms to bring their neighbors small gifts. i would wonder what it would be like to be them.....growing up as a mennonite. crap no beer!

they laughed & talked their way down the road & i realized that they werent missing out on anything at all. i would always try to be respectful & turn off my radio when i saw them coming down the road. one day one of the girls brought me some wild flowers & told me that they were for my wife to enjoy. i helped em one day when i found some of their fence had gone down & a few had escaped. very thankful i took the time to help but it wasnt anything really.

i dont know how its gonna feel next time i drive by that farm. its a beautiful area & farm. hard to think of them gone but i do know that they are in heaven.

danger kitty- they were a family of peace & love

Wax- Yes, as most mennonites are.

A tragic lesson that has occured many many times in the past.

A danger which is rarely thought about but which every child should be taught: "If you see someone suddenly collapse after entering a confined area and someone goes in to rescue them and also collapses do not enter! Call for help and tell the emergency operator what happened so they know to use respirators".

They are together and they did not suffer.
in fact such trageties occur precisely because consciousness is lost so quickly and so completely.

Perhaps God decided to show mercy to all and bring them home together... I don't know, but I will someday.

There are times when comfort is simply too small of a mechanism to cover an event.
It brought a tear to my eye as I type and so I can only imagine the grief of the community who loved them.

Really sad, and this happens from time to time. Those operations are dangerous.
