Hi all!! Wanted to say hello and also let you know of 2 movies I have seen recently that are MUST SEE flicks! One is called 'Super Size Me' A documentary about a guy who eats nothing but McDonalds for 30 days.....Its Nasty what *can happen to your body on that diet, he had 4 Dr's helping him with it...a must see!! And the other one is a film called 'Earthlings' This one is near and dear to me as it discusses how we as humans affect this earth and coencide with other 'earthlings' Earthlings are obviously anything that lives here on earth. No Speciesism. *Hope all is well with everyone in here as I miss talking with many of you but time is short working my main job and also at UPS and welding. We are currently fostering *two cats and a pitbull from the shelter and they are doing quite well....I only add this because of the PM's I have gotten asking about the shelter work.......I hope all have a great and prosperous New Year!!

Vinland, where have you been? Haven't seen you post for a long time.
I have heard about the movie, "Super Size Me" I can't imagine eating like that, but should be a good lesson for ones that are eating like that.

Depends of course on what you prefer. I haven't been too impressed with many films that have come out recently...I am a big fan of the weekly radio series "Prairie Home Companion" and books by Garrison Keillor, and I thought I would enjoy the move but aside from Woody Harelson's character / antics I was greatly disappointed in that film by the same name.
I like westerns and watched "Open Range" with Robt. Duvall and Kevin Costner. That was pretty well done. Also about a year ago, there was a western (forget the title) with Tommy Lee Jones and Kate Blancett...somthing like Missing or Lost or something....that was a good movie that kept you on the edge of your seat, without having to be a bloody, gross, slaughter movie (I hate those).

The Missing, and it looks really good, thanks! Big TLJ fan here, and Eric Schweig, but it sounds like his role is the, uh, less appealing one in this movie!

Missing: very good
The Three Burials of Melquiades Estrada: very good, esp if yo are a Tommy Lee Jones fan
The Plot: illegal alient M. Estrada becomes friends with Tommy Lee Jones' character, they cowboy awhile, then M. is shot by an overzealous border patrol officer and TLJ takes action to right the wrong and fulfill a promise. Sexual scenes, slow-paced. Quite funny and gross in places.

I am still stuck on Kingdom of Heaven --Seabisquit and Cinderalla Man.
Too many buckets of blood horror films for me lately.
I thought the kate and tommy movie was called the Vanished??

It's interesting that I came across this. Supersize me was on TV last night. I really don;t watch a lot of TV. Come to think of it, I almost never watch TV, but last night I was flipping through the channels at the end of a History Channel program and came across Supersize Me.
I know that Mc Donalds isn't good for you to begin with , but it was really interesting to see how it really affects you.
A little while later, my oldest son (13 y/o) came downstairs and asked what I was doing. I told him about the show and he sat to watch it with me.
The story went on to talk about food in schools and advertising and marketing to kids, etc.
We both got educated last night. I would also recommend this movie :)

Excellent movie. The good guys win a few.
