If this is not in the right place move it.

1. I have been saving pennies sence my Granddaughter was born. What years are better to save?

2. How do you get cat urine off of old 78 records with out distroying them.

Thank you for any help you can give.

I would use alcohol pads. the premade kind that will soak up the by now sticky urine but not affect the plactic of the records.. I would buy a BOX & use one till it's covered in the sticky urine then discard it & start anew... it may take awhile but it should dissolve the urine & save the records..

I wouldnt however use rubbing alcohol (isopurpol) as it tends to soften plastic & will surelt destroy the sound layers of the Records...

I don't know what year they started using a lot of other metals in pennies but I think I remember somebody else here talking about it. Seems like '84 or so. ???

I do know wheat pennies and indian head are worth more. I have been saving wheats for 20 years or so.

Cat tete? Oh Boy. I'd guess a damp cloth wrung out as much as possible and they dry the record asap.

Peace,

Pennies are copper 1982 and before,1942-45 were steel I believe, dimes nickels and quarters are silver 1964, and before, check the edge on silver you will find no other coloration, careful with the alcohol, vinyl doesn't like it, something base, as urine is an alkaloid, and some of those old 78 are wax i believe.

War nickels during the war years of 42 43 44 are 35 percent silver. You can tell them by the large mint mark on the back over the building. a roll of 40 nickels have a little over 2 oz of silver in them. No other nickels have silver.
