If i dump ALL the water out of my Trojans and refill them with battery acid can i restore a battery to a good lifespan ?
I'd like to jump in here and try to answer this one. I claim no expertise in these matters however I think I can help. If some one sees something wrong with my post then a corection is helping me learn also.
So "If i dump ALL the water out of my Trojans and refill them with battery acid can i restore a battery to a good lifespan ?"
No. Flooded lead acid batteries work by converting lead to lead sulphate. The process corrodes some lead away from the plate. Therefore they have a limited life span.
We get the best life span out of flooded lead acid batteries by ocasionally "slightly" over charging the battery
I don't know if refreshing the acid helps at all.

You're welcome.
Now nickle iron batteries on the other hand break down the electrolite and can be refreshed by changing the fluid. ;)
I'm sure there is a good reason that they are not the standard battery type But I can't seem to find it.

Aren't they a lot more expensive to begin with?
