:) At 10am this morning there was a dedication ceremony next to the criminal justice building for the Purple Heart Memorial on the corner at the front of the building. The gentleman who was m/c, or whatever you want to call him, stated that San Antonio has the largest chapter in the Military Order of the Purple Heart in the US. Not surprising since we're also known as Military City USA. The actual memorial has a large likeness of the medal on it and their are bricks at it's base with the names and wars or those who have earned a Purple Heart. Bricks are $50 each and they hope to add another 2-300 surrounding the memorial.
Something to remember on veteran's day.
My husband has a purple heart from WW II, the "war to end all wars".
I've heard it so many time in my 83 years that i don't believe it anymore.
War will never end war! It is NOT the way to peace!
Maybe Jesus was right when he said, "the weapons of our warfare are NOT carnal, but mighty , pulling down strong holds, etc."
"MY kingdom is NOT of this world. If my kingdom were of this world, THEN would MY soldiers fight, but MY kingdom is NOT of this world."
"Wisdom (of God) is better than ANY weapons of war."
If ANY man lack Wisdom, let him ask of God, who giveth to ALL men liberally. etc."
Solomon was given the gift of wisdom because he asked NOT the life of his enemy.
"MY Peace, i give to you, not as the world giveth."
When someone called Jesus good, he said, "Why calleth ME good? Only God is good."
Jesus, supposedly, said many great words of true peace.
It might do us better to listen to him instead of to all our governments, or organized religions, or whatever.
They have led us down the primrose path just too many times for me.
I am agnostic, meaning that i don't really know anything for sure, nor think anyone else does either, but i'll tell you this, war does not work, so why DON"T we give peace a chance?
Paul, supposedly, said, "The good that i WOULD do, i do NOT. The evil that i would NOT do, i DO."
That just about describes us in our vain attempts to win peace by way of the sword.
"The sword of the spirit is the word of god".
"He who takes up the sword shall die by the sword".
This is NOT the way of peace and prosperity for anyone in the world. We cannot continue to destroy everything and everyone that God has ever made for ANY manmade doctrine, policy, religion, country, or any other thing that man has made.
We cannot act like the devil and think we are doing it for God.
"LET God be true, and every man a liar." love, alma
