In the last few days I've been talking with folks and my darling wife has also added her two cents as well. What I have been getting feedback on is a general feeling of not dispare or anything like that but of an upcoming change. Most that I have talked with have told me that they will indeed vote but they have questioned as to how they will vote. A lot are angered about the fact that the two party system is breaking down and that in truth the common people are being subjugated in to roles more or less to that of mid evil serfdom.

I have been seeing news programs more and more recently focusing on the "attack" on the middle class. I've been thinking on this a lot and what my gut is telling me is that yes something is going to happen. At one store I was at a discussion I was having with the proprietors and a couple of the customers centered on many of these same issues. A comment was make that if things didn't change that it would lead to a civil war. This one person, an elderly lady interrupted and said "Not a civil war, a revolution!" I have thought on that and I started to ask myself the same question that I have titled this thread.

Has the SHTF or is it just about to?

I have read parts of Mr. Duffie's "The coming American Dictator ship" and I wonder that if those in positions of power in our government find that "We the People" vote their sorry butts out of office and threaten (if you will) their positions will they try something like martial law? If King George II feels that he can get away with it will there be a "mysterious" or "convenient" event that will allow the invocation of that demon called "FEMA"? What are your thoughts on this and are you preparing for this as an eventuality?

I'm preparing for continued high taxes and general high prices.

I'm going to vote, but it will be more to vote on specific ballot questions here in WI. *If some issues weren't on the table, I would not bother. *(and I have voted in every major Governor and Presidential election so far.)

I wonder if Republicans will show up. *Guess we'll find out soon enough.

a full tank of gas and our Canadian DL's will get us up to -and over- the border and out of this mess.

now that it is too late to change you all start crying.
I remember the last election and the re-election ads that appeared on this forum.
you got what you asked for!

Frank,

I'm curious, by the sound of your post you live in the U.S.

How do you get a Canadian Drivers License and also keep your U.S. one?

Are you a Canadian citizen living in the U.S.?

If not, is this a common situation in the area where you live?

Not planning and doing the same thing, So. CA is a bit far for that. Just curious as I said.

Thanks,
J.W.S.

The concentration camps are already in place along
with the crematoriums in some. The constitution is
largely erased by "executive order". The national guard
is almost completely out of the country fighting in Iraq.
The Democratic party is almost dead so we have only
one party to choose from(sounds like Nazi Germany).
Big business is rapidly stripping America's wealth away.

And you ask if the SHTF?? No, not yet but soon.

I'd say shortly after the 2006 midterms..........

Lets see, the US is loosing good paying jobs left and right and with the cost of fuel, the stock market keeps going up and up but the housing industry looks like it's ready to top out could be indicators of coming economic issues.

The current political make up of the us is well known to us all. If during the upcoming elections the balance of power shifts or goes into some sort of status quo the possibility that issues like border security and immigration will go by the wayside. The executive branch may issue special executive orders that may have a drastic effect on our liberties.

The political and security issues of foreign governments seem to be getting more endangered if you will. The rights of these other countries are being threatened by those with socio-politicial agenda's that advocate violent methods of furthering their goals.

The security of our own country is in peril due to the porous nature of our borders and of course our trusting ways. ;)

I have a hunch that this winters weather may not be kind to us all and Mother Nature as we all know has a habit of throwing us a curve ball when we least expect it.

In earlier threads I expressed an opinion that if/when the SHTF it won't have Irwin Allen type special effects but it will be something that sort of creeps up on us and it will be caused by multiple triggers all across the globe. I don't think it will be an avalanche, we'll just wake up one morning and say "Oh Crap!"
