That is exactly what needs to happen.....strong leadership and a STANCE...not the shrill voiced fingerpointing, hand wringing and running around in circles with no direction that has been happening.

" It would mean standing up for single-payer healthcare.
It would mean standing up for a SERIOUS increase in the minimum wage.
It would mean standing up for SERIOUSLY higher taxes on corporations and the extremely wealthy, in order to actually SHRINK the income gap in this country.
It would mean standing up for re-regulating all the corrupt, vampirous industries that were deregulated by Reagan and Bush.
It would mean standing up strongly for the separation of church and state, and heaping scorn on those who would tear it down, rather than running in fear of them.
It would mean standing up for SERIOUSLY higher pensions and funding for our military personnel, and for our veterans.
It would mean doing all these things and much more--AND MAKING SURE THAT JOE SIXPACK KNEW WE MEANT IT. "
Is that what I should believe in and vote for ?
I'm not sure what "single payer healthcare" is .
Increase the minimum wage ?
Why ?
That just makes everything go up in relation to the wage increase.
What have you gained ?
If a fellow wants to make a higher wage then learn how to do the job above the one they are doing now and MOVE UP !
THAT is how you increase your wages !
Higher taxes on corporations and the extremely wealthy.
Can't see why.
Both spend the money they make (eventually) and we all benefit from them doing well.
Every paycheck I have ever received came from a Corporation or a wealthier than me individual.
"re-regulating all the corrupt, vampirous industries"
Corrupt, vampirous ?
Come on Tightwad.
Seperation of Church and State
Already in the Constitution isn't it ?
"SERIOUSLY higher pensions and funding for our military personnel, and for our veterans."
Might go for that one...maybe.
But what I would REALLY like to see is SERIOUSLY LOWER pensions and perks for our politicians...funny how THEY never bring that one up isn't it...
psssst... Joe Sixpack likes the fact that he is working regularly...making as good a money as he is able to and that he can watch some TV when he gets home.
He AIN'T interested in what politicians tell him they are going to do for him.
Talk about the pot calling the kettle black! There so many things wrong with his article that I can't begin to address them all. So, I'll only do the most important. He mentioned the Beloved Consititution. Which one is he talking about, the one from the former Soviet Union? Dhimmicrats sure don't care about the US , and prove it at every opportunity.
While the so-called Right are no angels, it's the political leftists that are and have been trashing the US Constitution since at least as far back as 1913. Well, Lincoln really, and he started our first "Busybody" war.
The people of the US lose no matter which side gets in. Neither are saviors right now.

No but I feel much more comfortable with Republicans than I do Liberal Democrats wanting the State to take care of everyone from cradle to grave.

oops tightwad, you picked just about the
most far left liberal website out there.
Lord, please don't send me to moveon.org
I might just have a heart attack ;D
The Better Good made me cringe.
It should be up the states to decide on the
minimum wage not the federal government.
Why are we always looking to the federal
government to help us.
Arkansas, California, Delaware, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, North Carolina,
Pennsylvania, Rhode Island and West Virginia have raised the minimum wage higher. Didn't need no friggin
federal government to do it either. On the Nov. election,
many states have this on the ballot.
We must get the states back to taking care of
themselves. The federal government can't
be our nanny. They will then hold the strings
and it's never pleasant with the blackmail
tactics they use over us and the states.
Have you ever thought what it would be like
if each state took care of its business and told
the federal government to go to hell.
There are many states right now who pay
more to the federal government than they get
back. They would be better off not even
dealing with the federal government. Go to
the Tax Foundation and see for yourself.
Here's the single payer healthplan they are
talking about. If we have a single payer
health plan, you would see more corporations
hiring us full time instead this lousy part-time
work we're getting if they didn't have to worry
about health benefits. Especially after a
certain age, corporations do discriminate
because they say the older worker, just
because they are older, cost the health
providers more money and then the premiums
to the workers go up for everyone. Whether
we choose this plan, we have to address this
issue. Healthcare is outrageous and so many
families can't afford. More businesses are not
offering it to their workers and it's getting
worse everyday. We have to do something.

There really aren't any difference between
the two parties. They're both slim buckets.

The Single Payer System means National healthcare, it means Uncle is paying the bills, it means I am paying the bills for someone else through my mismanaged tax dollars.
Thank you NO! I can pay my own bills.
I just do not get where people think they should have something just because they want it. Were they never taught to work for it?
It costs me 3 heifers to pay for my insurance for 1 year. That is the three animals, their feed, pasture and meds. Throw in an extra one for prescriptions. I do it because I want the coverage, it is the cost of doing business.
The insurance companies are a business and last I checked a business is in business to make money. I run cows, they sell insurance, where is the difference.
Maybe folks might outta quit waiting for their employer or Uncle Sammy to wipe their butt and get off of it.

What an article. It sure confirmed my decision to vote Constitution Party every chance I get.
I can't afford as much Government as I have now, damn sure don't want anymore.
There is no such thing as a free lunch, and I'm tired of working for those who do not want to work or politicians that get rich doing nothing worthwhile
Every time I'm covering something and someone starts talking about for the "common good" and phrases like that I get really really antsy....
We need to get back to the principles of working hard to support our own folks and NOT depending on the government for the answers....I don't agree with anything in the article.

Minimum Wage.
Sure thing, I would be glad to support higher minimum wage just as soon as there is a standard of minimum competence or a free on the job training period. Short of that, any minimum wage is a silly program forcing employers to pay for something they certainly do not receive, kinda like taxes.
And just who says there needs to be a smaller gap in incomes? I betcha it's the cat making minimum wage... I say if the cat making minimum wage wants more cash then do the time. Wouldn't be cool though, pay my laborer nearly the same as I make and what would be the incentive to become the carpenter some day.
Naw, bad idea. Want more money either get a trade or work more hours. You know, like they did in the old days WORK and WORK HARD.
Minimum wage is just another example of living on Uncle Sammy. Might as well be mailbox money!

BTW......Folk's once again some of you have read into this thread
that because "I" posted it it must be how "I" believe. Not so at
all. *
*
Then why the heck did "I" post it?
*
To expose the "other side" of *the political point of view that must
be allowed for good THINKING citizens to ponder before they cast
their vote. If you notice I ended my post sentence with "vote as
you will". *
*
If "we" are to have a fascist socialist government then let it be the *
peoples choice. *
*
If "we" are to have a constitutional democratic republic then let that *
also be the peoples choice. *
*
Just don't let some group of monied power brokers sitting in the *
dark somewhere manipulate the citizenry into their pawns and *
slaves.
