Someone broke into my shed, stole my mig-welder and some other tools, last night. They also tried to break into a mobile home I own, that a friend is using, while he was there. In fact they tried to break into the window of the room he was sleeping in.
The boldness thieves are developing now is amazing. Everyone in my area knows If I catch thieving tresspassers, I will shoot them on sight, yet there are some that will still risk it.
I feel sorry for the next asshole that tries it.

I'm sorry to hear about your loss. I appreciate your thinking about shooting some as*&^@e, problem is, you'd probably end up in more trouble than the damn thief. Things sure aren't the way they ought to be.
I hate thieves. And yes, one should be able to shoot anyone tresspassing and stealing.

I'm sorry to hear about your loss. It really bites when something of your is stolen. I can totally understand your wanting to take care of things :)
I know that there are ways around it and it's already after the fact, but how about a dog that you can keep outside?
It seems like it'll be a deterrent for the common thief as well as a lower liability risk, not to mention a buddy :)
My 2 cents...

Yes..... a Mastiff should do the trick. ;) A pair of them would be even better. ;D

P.S. Of course, you'll still have to feed these dogs their regular meals after their "thief-snack"...

Our house was broken into several years ago, and I'm still just as angry about it as the day it happened.
Sorry for your loss, too bad you didn't catch the %&*#%, ( fill in your own words). I would love to fill their a$$ with buckshot.
Nothing I hate more than a sneaking thief.

Until we start publicly hanging some of the SOB'S
it won't get any better. Sure as he&& the present system isn't going to do anything about stealing except spend millions making sure the thug gets his "rights" and "counseling" to help him or her do it again.

Hey Guys;If this is the type of Justice that appeals to you why not move to Saudi Arabia? They have this there.Of course there are a few drawbacks. But thats true anywhere in life.-

I actually have Home Owners insurance. And also people that live this kind of life pick up outrageous price tags.(Nobody Flies for Free!)Do I like being ripped off,NO! but it is my responsibility to lock up my own property.
Also if you live Off Grid then get Guinnea's and Peafowl.Nobody comes within 50 ft of your house without you knowing about it!Period.Dogs are great too.-

I know how you feel junkyardblacksmith. I've been broken into twice. I have never been more angry and I can't say what I would have done if I had caught them. I cannot abide a thief! But, in the end you'd get in far more trouble than it would ever be worth to kill the burglars. I like the guinea idea and a couple of decent sized dogs couldn't hurt. I have also been thinking about an alarm system too.

Sorry to hear about your losses.
We've had several attempted break ins here.
Now that we're down to one dog though,I wonder if it will start up again. Old dog would stop 'em at the window and try going out the window after them.He was a good dog,we never trained him to do that.
I'm not really sure what current dog would do by himself.
Just yesterday a co worker was asking me why I pay for a storage unit rather than put a shed up here, this is one of the reasons.
Where we live a shed is just irresistable bait for thieves.
Too bad you couldn't set one up with a giant glue trap built into the floor.......... ;)

Unfortunately i don't think most storage rental places are that secure either. My aunt had hers broken into just this week! Fortuanately there wasn't any thing of value so the theives didn't take any thing but they made a mess of what was there >:(. I think one of the best preventatives for that kind of theft is a camera system. The prices for these have really come down in recent years and often times theives will avoid places if they know they're being watched. And if they don't avoid it then you've got pictures for ID and prosecution.

Get yourself a cheap throw down gun. If it is good enough for the cops to use, it should be good enough for you. You can tell the cops, "Well, officer he drew on me first." ;)

There's nothing of much value over there, just the lawnmower and some camping gear, and a couple of old bikes.Misc......
Oddly enough, thieves around here would rather break into your house than a storage unit.
I know it's not any safer over there than over here, but considering we live in a trailer park,it is a little bit more secure. Not always the nicest people living here as our neighbors.

Leera I too live in a trailer park and admit to leaving the door unlocked when I first started visiting with the lady in the next trailer. Then one day she told me that the young man, who then lived in trailer 3, was found going trailer to trailer and trying the doors! I know he was a druggie, had several people tell me that including a cop who came to arrest him for auto theft. I now lock my door except when I'm going to check the mail or be on the patio itself within site of the front door! I also keep my 12 guage in the bedroom in the corner right next to the door. It is legal for me to shoot to kill if someone comes into my trailer, especially at night. Since I'm disabled I have an even more valid reason to arm myself, I can't defend myself from an intruder otherwise. Wasn't it someone at BWH that said "I'd rather be judged by twelve than carried by six"?

Good point there MYR. I do keep a nice baseball bat by my bed,it's supposed to be for breaking windows in case of a fire, but can break noses just the same.
When we first moved in here,a friend parked out in front and didn't lock his truck,in less than the 5 minutes he was here, someone stole the mag lite out of his truck.
The cover to our grill has been stolen. My Mother has had yard decorations stolen from where they live now.
About five years back, there was a guy that got arrested two houses down.........he was molesting children! The very children that play in our neighborhood everyday!!
I was so sickened I wanted to pack up and leave right then and there!
There are some nice people here too,but it's the bad ones that give trailer parks such a bad reputation.
It's been a few years since we've had any problems, and the police patrol regularly now,but sooner or later another bad person will show up in here and start causing trouble again. It never fails.
Can't wait to be able to move out of here...........
