I was reading an article earlier this morning about "copy cat effect" and these school killings that seem to keep popping up.

With grandchildren in public schools in two different states, this trend scares me!

I thank the heavens that my grandchildren are all homeschooled.

I'm trying to find out what kind of security is in place in the schools that my grandchildren go to. I wasn't satisfied with what they were telling me last night when I asked them. :-/

These things happen everyday in the US and the world in general, in some shape or form. My question is, why are these particular incidents being covered so intensely?
Mainstream media, which is obviously under total control of of the state, has been commanded to run school shooting stories, and the story of the pederast NONSTOP to take the publics attention away from the fact that your castrated congress passed one of the most tyrannical bills in the history of this nation.
http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=973155988563187524&q=detainee+bill &hl=en
Historically, the media usually runs conveniently attention grabbing child tragedy stories during periods when unconstitutional garbage is being rammed through congress.
It's a terrible thing, but had one of the adults had a pistol, it would have never gotten as far as it had.
As an added bonus to the 'detainee bill', be on the look out for fresh gun legislation coming to police state hell near you.

In the '60's when I was in 7th grade in a small town in Iowa, one of the boys in my class begged a local minister to talk to him, but he was too busy that week because of some social meetings. The next day, the boy shot his mom 8 times. We were never told what the problem was, or what happened to him.
A few years later, it was snipers shooting from bell towers, in the post office - seemed like snipers all over the place. Later, it was murder in the schools.
There are sociopaths everywhere and there always have been. I believe some people just have something missing inside that doesn't allow them to feel guilt, remorse, or even sorrow for other people's pain. They are so self-centered that no one's feelings matter except their own. Young people can be especially lacking in balance in their thinking; maybe longer life teaches them they aren't the only one who's had some problems.
Can a conscience be taught if it isn't there naturally? I wish I knew!
Can it be identified before something terrible like this happens? I sure hope so!

I believe it can. I took out my original post, because it was a long and involved post that may have offended some people. I don't want to do that. ;)

I heard this in a college sociology class and maybe someone else can verify it. Experiments with rats indicated that each rat required a certain amount of space to remain a normal member of the society. The rats were allowed to reproduce without limits but the amount of space for their habitat remained static. At some point, the average-space-per-rat reached a critical level and the rat population started to manifest all the problems we see in today's society. Irrational rage, violence, weird (for rats) sexual behavior, etc. etc.. Given the increasing population density all over the world, I think that it was inevitable that humans follow the same route. In my opion, it's going to get a whole lot worse.

It's very possible that extensive news coverage
of events like school shooting create copy cat
killers because they then know that they to
will become "famous".
My spin is report the event then LET IT DROP TO
AVOID TO MUCH COVERAGE.
LIKE IT OF NOT THE NEWS MEDIA DOES MUCH HARM
IN PURSUIT OF THE NEWS "SCOOP". THERE ARE LIMITS
TO HONORABLE REPORTING AND I WISH THE MEDIA
WOULD LEARN AND USE THEM. THE MEDIA TODAY IS
NOTHING MORE THAN ONEUPSMANSHIP.

Read up on the pharmaceutical companies! Check out the medical "mainstream" in the U.S.
It seems that each of the student shooters has either been on various prescription drugs at the time of their rampages, or shortly before! Were talking serious pshychotropics, many of which are prescribed almost like candy for kids who have little more than a sugar overdose at first, then are given a medically approved psychotrope to deal with it. Then go over the edge due to this prescription!
Yea, indeed, tha latest one (the Amish event) is in a different category since it was an adult instead of a student, but my bet is that a local doctor fed him some of the same kind of mood altering poisons!
Of course there will be those who "go over the edge" on their own, but in FAR too many of these kinds of things it is shown that mood/mind altering drugs, approved by the FDA, and prescribed by the "gods" of the medical world, are involved!

should we arm teachers?

should we arm teachers?
Maybe but not with firearms. It might be OK if they were all armed
with Tasers to stun an attacker. Just no guns.
There should also be a requirement that ALL parents sign for kids
over 14 that they agree to*let the schools use non-lethal force
if their kid becomes an armed threat.

I agree with this... I've also been reading about the connection between kids on mind altering drugs for behavior problems and violence....I have one grandson whose Mother is always threatening to put on Ritalin, scares the crap out of me, especially when I see it's more a matter of not wanting to parent than anything else...he's 8 years old and rules the roost, he's learned at an early age how to manipulate his Mother, she claims she's too tired, too ill, too stressed to deal with him. She spoiled him rotten, now can't control him....she thinks my methods are mean and cruel not because I ever lay a hand on him, I don't, but I'm strick
....she says I hurt his feelings!
He knows if he tells his Mom he's sad or mad, he can get away with anything..example, he completly ruined thier central AC unit by bashing it with a shovel, he told his Mom it was because he was angry about something, the "something" he couldn't recall but that was good enough for Mom, it wasn't his fault.
It's so frustrating, I'm sorry for the long rant, probably shouldn't even be in this thread,I apologize!

Northwoods, I think your grandson needs a trip to the woodshed. ;) For you to see how your grandson is acting and his mother not wanting to deal with it has to be hard on you. Hugs and keep your chin up. Hopefully something will give and his mom will see that her little "darling" is turning into a little dictator and do something about it.

Your right, Hillbilly Mom, the woodshed would be a good start! And I too, hope my daughter-in-law soon comes to her senses but I'm not holding my breath...Lol

Here is a BIG why...give a listen to John's short talk on what needs to change and change now. Most of Us here fully understand this...but we have to "tell" others openly and actively that it has to stop and that we can stop it.
"The Paradox of Extended Childhood"
http://www.johntaylorgatto.com/multimedia/jtgsound_paradox.htm
...
And...what needs to be "re-taught" by People like Us to Young People right in front of Us:
Character flaws could be remedied, but only from the inside. You had to do it yourself through courage, determination, honesty, and hard work. Don’t discount this as hot air; it marks a critical difference between Americans and everyone else...

It's true isn't it? While listening to that speech, I was remembering my own growing up, which was a wonderful experience but I was right out in the fields at 4 years old picking rocks just like the rest of the family.
Hard work never hurt me a bit. And it never hurt my own kids....I really don't understand a lot of the child rearing I see around me...my own grandchildren live a disposable life style, they take care of nothing, it's all replaceable, once they have what they want, they don't want it anymore...it's a mystery to me. And I admit it makes me angry too........
