Greetings from the Sunflower State! We've been fans of Backwood Home Magazine for years, and I'm glad to discover this forum. I'm looking forward to getting to know you all as I poke about here and glean ideas and inspiration. Looks like a ya'll have a very nice place here!

I'm in south central Ks, just sw of Wichita. I have cousins up your way in Topeka, Salina, and Leavenworth. I also have a daughter in Gypsum, and another in Emporia.

It's really pretty up your way..People joke about how boring Kansas looks, but I rather enjoy it.

You're right. It is pretty up this way.. lots of hills, creeks, timbers.......I like it. But, I also think the Flint Hills region has a beauty all its own.....

Absolutely! Then there's southeastern Kansas..more rolling hills.. and the Gyp Hills in the southwest..those are cool..very different from the Flint Hills.

Been over 50 years now but was stationed at Naval Air Station in Hutchinson--actually Yoder--back in the mid 50's.
Drank my first ever Kansas Bloody Mary--as we called them--beer and a splash of tomato juice. We frequented a little bar out by the nurses school.

Hi! I'm new to the forum also. Unlike you, I just discovered BHM and it's information motherlode. Since I am just embarquing on my journey to sulf-sufficient living, I truly appreciate the wiser one's words.
BTW, Kansas is a fantastic state!. I'm glad to be from there. ;)
I'm down in Texas nowadays and it is similar enough to feel at home.
