Hello to all! *DH and I live on his 18 acre estate of his grandparents in a 14 X 50 SW mobile home that is PAID for, and we have a large porch which is closed in for the winter with a pot-belly stove for wood heating. Most of the land is fenced pasture with some trees. *We have a 2 acre pond, well and septic tank. *We also have an old well with a hand pump for emergencies. Our family consists of 7 kids between us, three live with us full time. We share 5 dogs, a steer, a pig, 20 chickens (who 2 are sitting on eggs), two doe and one buck rabbit. We do raised-bed gardening, but will also make a large garden with a tractor this year to grow some grain and lots more veggies, and try our hand at tobacco for his "nasty habit." *I pressure can anything I can get my hands on, make jams and jellies and pickles, and make our bread, both whole wheat and sourdough. *We are working towards solar power and working on a large worm bed and hope to add a root cellar. I look forward to gleaning knowledge from all of you and helping you when I can. Blessings, firegirl

Thanks for the welcomes. 9vman, if I remember from reading some of your posts, you do alot with alternative energy. Is this correct? If so, I may need some help in the future from you (since you live close to us). We were given a roof-mount, two panels, controller box(all still in the box), fuses, 12v light bulbs, and we know nothing about solar. We want to save up to buy batteries, and inverter and some more panels. I hope the price comes down.

You're thinking about "12vman", and yes, he has a lot of post concerning solar power. I think he lives in Ohio but Im not sure.
I go by "9vTech" because I work in a battery plant.
