Hello from WI

Hi all.

We live in rural WI and are planning to really expand on our garden and add chickens to our family this summer. We are starting slow and hoping to learn a lot from this magazine and forum.

I'm also from Wisconsin.

Have you started any seeds yet, or will you just buy plants or plant directly in the garden? I've got a couple of seed starting kits, but haven't put anything in them yet - too much SNOW on the ground to get into it!! ;)

I ordered my seeds and have them here. I also pre-ordered tomato and pepper seedlings that will ship in May. All are from Seed Savers. Last year I waited too long and they were sold out of everything I wanted. This year I made sure to get on top of things right away to get what I wanted from them. ;D

Last night we started a ton of seeds. One tray of leeks, one and a half trays of yellow onions and a half tray of red onions. I mistakenly thought I could arrange them around my AeroGarden for the lighting help, but they are just too big. We'll have to pick up some utility lights later this week and some grow bulbs.

We are drastically expanding the garden and planning to use the chicken coop garden plan from the site here as a guide.

I am a newbie here also. Glad to join you. Looks like you got a good start on the gardening. I have multiplying onions going, collards, and mustard greens going. Carrots are up now. We are expanding our garden also, looks like we are gonna need it.
