Just wanted to say hi and introduce myself and a little about....I love being self-reliant (to a point) My wife and I live on three acres in South Carolina. I acted as general contractor and built my house. Personally built detached garage (except for pouring concrete and vinyl siding), just finished running 1,000 ft of field fence, dug all the posts by hand (about 100) and am about to break ground on a 24x36 enclosed pole barn. We are waiting till that is complete to add farm animals/pets. Looks like alot of good info and folks here :)

Welcome ugabulldog. Sounds like you jumped right into building and making improvements. What sort of animals did you have planned?

I hope your soil is not rocky, digging all those post holes makes me tired just thinking about it. Well, sounds like you have come to the right place, welcome on board. :)

thanks for the warm welcome. We plan on having a couple of cows, chickens, and goats to help me with all the grass cutting. The soil was fairly sandy and soft or else i would have rented an auger, the few places i hit rock, I just dug down all I could, about 12" and cemented the posts (none were corner posts like that)
