Hello everyone, we are from AR and new here. We, hubby and self, are thinking about finding homestead act areas so thought I would join some of the different sites that deal with homesteading. I am a crafter and hubby a Sales/Purchaser for a local business. ;D Hope to get on more often in a few days. Glad to meet everyone one.

If you are looking for Federal Homestead Act land, that program is no more, but there ARE states that have similar programs, so don't get discouraged.

When we use the word "homestead" here, we mean - just home, or a small farm and the goal of self-sufficiency to some degree or another. So many people are distressed with the economy or their work-for-someone else lifestyle that they are longing to get a life where they feel they have more control over where and how they live, and what they feed their families; those are the folks you will find here!
