Greetings from a Newcomer!

Hi everyone. I'm Rachel, I'm 21 years old (22 on Friday) and I currently live in a college town in North Carolina. As of August 24th however, I will be living in a tiny town in Arkansas.
My mom and I are moving to the Ark to buy some land, and start our homestead. We got to talking one morning about the state of the world, agreed that we didn't like what we saw, and set a life changing plan in motion! That was in March. Now, we are going full steam ahead toward our dream! We are going to stay with an old friend for a few months while we look for the perfect land, and then we start!
We will probably post questions like crazy, so I hope everyone is open to answering stupid questions from two women aiming to be completely self sufficient.

Welcome to the forum!! I'm new to all of this self-sustainability stuff as well and NO ONE has EVER respond to my questions as if they were silly ;D.

Thanks, Bookworm. We are both REALLY excited about it. We're researching and learning as much as we can, but I think that there's only so much you can do beforehand. I can't wait to dig in and get my hands dirty!!

I agree with your statement that "there's only so much you can do beforehand". My family is also in NC and we will be moving soon. We'll still be in NC, but hopefully in a more rural/remote location.

Like I mention before, I've received a LOT of wonderful information from the awesome folks here....but I don't think that I'll be asking many more questions until we actually move....for the exact reason "...only so much you can do...." ;D
