We're a middle aged couple presently living green on 5 acres. Organic gardens, orchard, chickens Happy as could be until 14 acres across the road got sold and rezoned. Yup.. 52 houses going in.. it'll all be sanitized with weed'n'feed. All trees and wildflowers gone .. huge clouds of dust and trucks and noise. Looking to buy a few acres right off the grid. Any other Canadians here? Looks like an informative site and forum. Cheers Dragonfly

Hey Dragon, welcome, I myself just clued in to this site a just over a month ago and finally registered last week.

I had been going to BC every week untill a month ago. I just love it out there. Especially the Kootneys. I had been looking at land around the Nelson area......but the pricing is far out. On my last trip out there I was up north in Quensel and Williams Lake, pricing is a lot better there but I just did not get a good feel/vibe.

In the mean time I'm hanging out here in Waterloo ON,

I'm from Alberta, so I know what you are talking about. I hope you find a solution... I just want development to stop. We all have enough already! we are out in the Creston Area a couple of times a year.... They 9my friends) live on 10 acres out there and apparently they have stopped all development for that area. NO NEW HOUSING DEVELOPMENTS ... YAYAYAYAY! to try to stop the eating up of the country side. so that is a possibility, not a lot for sale there but you might find something....

I feel for you in your situation. You must have felt just disgusted when you found out how the neighbourhood was going to change! Good luck finding a quieter place to put down roots. :)
