:D Hi All,
I'm new here from Canada; I love everything about this site & this forum! I am a mom to 3 kids; am happily married to a great guy who works on an organic soybean farm, and we have 3 dogs, 3 chickens, and approximately 3 million honeybees(well, we're up to 11 hives). We are well on our way to becoming self-sufficient: we told Union gas(our big government-funded natural gas co) to take a hike 4 yrs ago when we put in 2 cornstoves. They do a good job of heating our 110-yr old 4 BR farmhouse. I love all the ideas here about getting off the grid & such; my husband is debating making a huge outdoor cornboiler & heating both our honeyhouse/shop & our home. Is anyone here doing something similar? Any advice would be super! BTW, all the recipes are fabulous! Thanks!

Welcome simleylove. This forum is a great place isn't it. :)

What province are you in? I'm in Southern Ontario myself. Not homesteading yet, just living in the city and dreaming about it.

Hi MotherCharlotte,

We live in Ontario, near a small farmtown named Petrolia. We'd actually like to be even more rural (our road is busy) but having all those city folk drive by each day is perfect for when we sell our honey, fudge, peanut brittle, and eggs! Land here is extremely expensive as well, so our next dream of totally homesteading in the middle of nowhere is still a ways off...happy here for now. How bout you? Dreaming is a wonderful way to start putting together goals for the next step in life...

Petrolia is near Sarnia, isn't it? We're in Windsor so not too far from you. :)
