Hello all, my name is Teresa and I just signed up for this board. I live in North Carolina with my husband, three daughters and my sister. I have always been "frugal" but grow more and more interested in becoming self-sufficient every day.
We don't have a lot of land, a little under an acre, and most of it is wooded. We will be working on clearing most of it, but plan to maintain some of the woods. We also have neighbors on both sides and they are fairly close. Still, I am interested in coming as close to having a "farm" as I can. We have guinea fowl eggs on there way to us now and a local feed store who is willing to incubate them for us until they hatch. We plan to keep them for the tick control (hoping it really helps) and for the eggs, and may possibly use them for their meat as well. I would also love chickens and even considering a goat for their milk but don't know much about that yet and worry sometimes that I'm getting in over my head LOL.
I can't wait to dive into this forum and read all the ways that you all are becoming self sufficient. I'm hoping that although I don't live on a "real farm" I can still do more to be self-sufficient!
