...until the city place gets sold and we move to the 'homestead', but I'm not counting, I swear! ;)
The place: 35 acres, mostly wooded. Private pond/mini lake, and a stream with some cascades. The house and workshop/garage were there when we acquired this property a year ago, but need updating. On-grid, but we'd eventually like to be able to meet as many of our needs independently, just in case. On a quiet RR, surrounded mostly by sugar shacks, but not overly far from the essentials (friends, food, wine)
The people: my spouse and I, middle-aged, currently doing the 9 to 5 in the city, several hours away from 'the place'. We get up there for about 5 days every month, and it gets harder and harder to come back to the city.
The plan: we will be able to move there permanently (see 'subject') for our retirement. In the meantime, we are undertaking the projects to address things that were neglected (like septic :o) and taking the time to research and learn so we won't always feel like The Douglases from Green Acres. What we don't know (a lot) we can learn, and hard work doesn't scare us.
In the meantime, the enjoyment we get from our 'half-rural' lifestyle is immeasurable.
