Hi all,

I've been lurking and reading for quite some time, but decided to take the plunge and start joining in on the discussions. This forum has been an incredible learning experience for me. I'm very new in terms of making actual preparations for self-sufficiency during rough times, but my mind is full of ideas. I have some stockpiling but I am nowhere near being off the grid. Hence, I'm an idealist. I'm here to basically find the cheapest, most cost-effective ways to prepare ahead of time. You have already influenced me to purchase an emergency 55-gal water drum for long term storage, which is in shipment now.

I have a bit of experience in woodlands, as I am an Eagle Scout and take my oath seriously. Even at 30, I'm doing my best to "Be Prepared!".

Again, thanks for such a great site and most importantly, it is critical to have a wonderful community such as this in the event that the SHTF !

Another Thank you to BHM. When the "storm" has passed you will be directly responsible for the fact that survivors do in fact, survive.

To the Idealist, as an old scoutmaster, the skills that you acquired will become more valuable as time goes by. I've had many come back from military duty and other similar instances and thank me for helping them attain the knowledge to survive adverse conditions, which I fear the ultimate test is not far ahead for all of us. Our country which has paid the ultimate price in blood, has been given away and squandered to the point of no return by educated idiots, and some not so educated idiots. In my humble opinion, we are now in a foreign land with no borders. A ship, if you will, with no rudder, and large gaping holes in the bottom, with water rushing in over the sides, yet we sit on our ends with a can of suds in one hand, and the TV remote in the other, wondering how we can get a handout from the "Gooberment", which is financially and spiritually bankrupt.

Thank you BHM, and sorry for the "rant", I'm preaching to the choir.
