:D Hi everyone, I'm a new oldie, or maybe an old newie. I've read BHM for many years. I've been studying homesteading and self-sufficiency since 1992, when I moved from Indy to FL just in time for Hurricane Andrew to hit south of me. I then got on that newfangled internet thingy and for a few years had a geocities page "Solargirl's Green Pages," which was mainly personal observations and links to green things like strawbale, vermiposting and solar power, etc. I spent about a year trying to homestead on a vacant suburban lot I bought in Tampa for back taxes. Seems once the codies are sikked on you, they never get un-sikked. I had to give up my dream and my lot, quit school and get a job and apartment when child welfare threatened to take my son away for "neglect due to unsafe living conditions," i.e., living in a 20 X 24 shed I had re-roofed, re-framed, and was fixing up. But that was then. Now my "baby" is 22 and off on his own. I've bought 10.5 acres just south of the FL/GA border where I'm planning to build a small off-grid cabin and gradually start homesteading. Oh yes, and I'm shamelessly cruising the singles forum too. Just thought I'd pop in and say HAY YALL.

Thanks, Pat. I hope I can too. If not, I'll be "that eccentric old hippie broad up the road who lives in the little shack and is always building some weird thing."
